My Hawaiian friend took me here and we had some late lunch together. We share all food we order; steak is ok, ceviche is not my test. I just don't like that they put coconut to everything. It doesn't go well. I speak from my experience from the person that grow up with coconut and familia with it all of my life. I feel like a fake food that use fusion as an excuse to add an ingredient that thinking a tourist will like as a coconut it represents the food from an island. Anyway, I had ceviche at an authentic Spanish restaurant before and the dressing is different so every place that add coconut milk in ceviche, I take it as a fusion dish.
Other than that, we were ok with the drinks and another dishes

We have eaten here at least twice per week for the past two years. Food is fresh, flavorful, and consistent. Staff is excellent!
Happy hour is great!
One of our favorite restaurants we visited on our trip to Oahu! The kalua pork was a favorite between me and my boyfriend—we found the pork to be tender and juicy while not overly oily. We also loved that the kale had a bit of a crisp to it.
The poke was alright, the fish was fresh but the sweet and spicy sauce was a bit too sweet and thick for my liking.
Don’t miss the ube colada either, it was delicious!! We dream of this place constantly now.
The food was perfect, service is amazing! We were on a happy hour though couldn’t try cocktails. otherwise we really enjoyed seafood meals.
We stumbled on Uahi Island Grill totally by accident while pregaming before a live show down the street. Honestly, it was the best surprise.
I ordered the Kailua pork fries, mochiko garlic chicken, and kimchi steak nachos (because why not), plus a Mai Tai that hit just right. Everything was packed with flavor, and the vibe was super chill. Perfect spot to fuel up before a night out. Definitely coming back!!
Very good quality and taste! Strongly recommend! Nothing to complain!
Bucha Highland Grill: A Casual Dining Experience
Bucha Highland Grill offers a straightforward dining experience that hits some marks while falling short on others. The happy hour specials were disappointing, with minimal discounts that didn't excite.
The menu shows promise, particularly with the teriyaki cheeseburger - a satisfying option that rates a solid 7.5/10. It's filling and tasty, if not extraordinary. The orange duck confit proved to be another highlight, earning a respectable 7-8/10 rating.
Service stands out as a strong point. The staff is friendly and attentive, working in a notably clean and comfortable environment. The restaurant seems well-suited for casual dining and appears accommodating for larger groups.
While not a culinary destination, Bucha Highland Grill provides a reliable option for those seeking a no-frills meal. The menu suggests potential for variety, and the overall experience suggests it's worth a return visit - especially if you're looking to try something different next time.
Recommended for diners seeking a dependable, unpretentious meal in a pleasant setting.
This is one of my favorites however this last experience was terrible! Prices are higher and service is terrible. My waitress was more into hanging out at the bar talking and playing with her hair and earrings. We waited along time while our food stayed under a lamp and got so tough we could hardly eat it ! When addressing the issue with the manager he seemed nonchalant and he could’ve cared less ! This is so sad that once a great place has turned into a shabby and low quality establishment.
We went there for lunch, and the service was fast while the food was delicious.

Restaurantji Recommends
On our first visit on the first evening of the new year, 2025, we dropped in at 5 pm without reservations. Things were too up in the air on our end, so we took our chances, but upon arrival we made note of many signs reading "reserved" on the tables. We were seated at the last available 2-top on the patio thanks to an accommodating hostess. The interior seemed comfortable but not overly inviting. Our server was down-to-earth, willing to make recommendations, and suitably attentive without hovering. The food was great, a shrimp & black bean sauce and the red curry ahi tuna. Cocktails were good. We engaged in conversation with another table, one of those unexpected, connect-with-strangers experience that added to our enjoyment. We visit Kailua several times a year when spending time with family and we look forward to dining at this restaurant again.

Pretty good fresh food, especially the curry grilled fish, the ahi katsu, and the kalua pork + poke.
