We were told that if we could only do one thing while we were in Molokai it was to head over here at 7:00pm for their hot bread and although we were blessed to do a ton of things while here this was ABSOLUTELY 100 percent at the top of our to do food visits!!! The ladies that were at the little alley window were out of this world friendly and so helpful! They were engaging, funny and two of the coolest people I’ve ever met! The hot bread, well it speaks for itself! It was served to us right out of the oven, was so incredibly soft and the choice of toppings was simply delicious 10 out of 10!!!! We are already talking about our next visit to the most beautiful Hawaiian Island we’ve ever been to, and we’ve been to them all, and this magical place will be at the very top of our list!!!
A HUGE and sincere MAHALO to these two wonderful ladies and we so look forward to seeing you again very soon!!!

We went to the bakery twice on our visit to Molokai. The first time in the morning, we got some delicious purple taro donuts. But then we had to go back at night for the famous hot bread! They used to open around 10pm but it has changed to 7pm. A fun and not to be missed experience!

This has to be one of the worst experiences that I've ever had to deal with ever, in the history of any shop that I've ever been to.
Their main cashier only wants to cater to the local people, even when there isn't anyone else in the place, she works extremely slow, and is very rude. If there was any other place to get some kind of omiyage (souvenirs) then I would.
This will probably be the very last time I ever visit this place.
Their pastries and bread is mediocre at best, it's dry and chewy and it doesn't live up to the hype.
Made a pick up order FOUR DAYS in advance, called the day before to confirm our order, and it wasn't ready for pick up.
The cashier/server was very rude and unhelpful, we have a plane to catch and she moves as slow as molasses.
It's a pain to have to work with her, I wish they would bring someone else in to replace her or help her out. Some younger preferably.
Again, this is the most painful experience I've ever had working with someone in customer service, the absolute worst cashier/server ever.
I WILL NEVER WILLINGLY COME BACK HERE!
Also their prices are wayyyy to expensive!

This place is a famous spot. With all the locals. Was hard to find but worth
every minute. Hidden back alley off main town street. The smell of the bread loaves will tell you that you're in the right place. Keep going. You will hear voices in the alley under the sheet metal roof. You have found it. These are a HEAVENLY treat.!!! Best ever.!!
Great breads

I was disappointed with my return visit to this establishment after many years. My previous visit was a highlight of my time on Molokai, but to see the current state was saddening. All of the food was served on disposable products, including styrofoam. This is not a responsible practice. The service was slow (and I like to take it slow on Molokai), and the bathroom was out of hand soap, which was not reassuring. Kanemitsu's is an institution, but it doesn't seem like there's a lot of care or aloha in maintaining the business. Other stores and restaurants in town seem to be fully staffed, so I'm not sure why they are struggling. I hope they can turn it around!
