Atmosphere (2/5): When we walked in, the place was very empty since they are brand new and only opened a few weeks ago. I immediately went to the bathroom, where I unfortunately was swarmed by various flies. Additionally, this place had an overall vibe of a sports bar. They had a single musician playing live music, mostly country - which doesn’t fit the vibe of sushi or Hawaii. Then the restaurant also had the fights on, which felt very sports bar esq.
Service (4/5): We opted to sit outside, and was promptly greeted and taken care of. The food came out extremely quickly and the service was great! Only down side is the restaurant did not have their liquor license yet.
Food (3/5): the crispy rice was very phenomenal! The rolls were great, nigiri was also great minus the tamago which came out looking greenish?

Delicious sushi! The restaurant doesn’t have a liquor license yet so I got a complimentary glass of wine and my husband got a sweet and sour! The service was great and there was great live music. We ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the sweet and spicy roll.

We stumbled upon this restaurant after golfing and it was so delicious and fresh we came back twice. We went to all the well known, fancy resort restaurants in Wailea and 1111 Nikkei’s food blew those other restaurants out of the water. Since they are new, their liquor license was delayed but they kindly let us bring our own liquor in. Our server, Dominic was very kind and attentive. We recommended 1111 Nikkei to some other friends vacationing on the island and they also ended up eating there twice because they liked it so much! Some highlights were the ahi ahi role (spicy tuna roll with ahi poke on top) and the sticky shrimp. Can’t recommend this place enough, I wish I could fly back to Maui and eat there again. They also had gluten free soy sauce which is great for one of us who can’t have gluten!

If I were to blame any of the dishes for the terrible food poisoning I experienced throughout the night and all day today it would be the seaweed salad. Strong smell of seafood which is never a good sign and it was served lukewarm. What I found odd -and I could be wrong- is that the sushi-bar did not have a standard sushi fridge to store the fish in-between cuts. All of the raw fish and shellfish was lukewarm and the marinated fish (Spicy Tuna Roll) was warm. I am not sure about the other reviews which certainly drew us in (4.8 google rating) but I feel absolutely catfished after my experience and angry for wasting a meal in paradise on 1111 Nikkei. We visit Maui a couple times a year and have tried most of the restaurants in the area; and from a value proposition to quality this probably the worst in the Wailea area. The staff was very friendly and the live music was excellent; but that being said, we of course came for the food. If you love gambling i would recommend a take out order from 1111 Nikka Sushi with as much raw fish and shell fish as possible on either the day of your flight home or the evening before. I dare you. I expect the other 9 reviews (at the time of this post) are insiders or staff. Lets hope they are able to turn the kitchen before they go out of business or Maui health and safety shuts them down. We really do need more restaurants in the area. Thank you for listening; I felt obligated to warn others of my experience (which i'm still dealing with tbh).... and you would too.

Could be much better. Food was OK. The biggest issue for me was the service. We ordered diet cokes. They were flat. They said try this now it should be better. Was still flat. Was told this is as good as it is gonna get. Nothing to replace was offered. We had to ask to get it removed of the check. And 18% tip was automatically added. Which showed in the level of not caring. Got some work to do.
