Are you kidding me? The Katsu curry rice cost almost $30? Only with five slice of pork and rice? Five???

Ordered ramen, tempura shrimp, and plum wine, and everything was so good! The waitress was very sweet and attentive. Lots of options on the menu. Plenty of free parking and in a good location.

Izakaya Genbe is an excellent Japanese restaurant in Kihei. The service is excellent and the food exceptional. The restaurant is located in the Azeka shopping center in Kihei and open for lunch and dinner. This great spot is one of our go to places for a night out. The ramen is excellent and we are big fans of spice so we always add a side of the spicy red bomb. If you are a local make this a spot on your night out rotation and if you are a tourist make this a must stop on your trip to Maui.

Small shop with excellent service. We came in with reservations for a group of 9. Seated early and orders went in. I had the Tonkatsu curry. Curry was tasty with a slight bite of heat. The Tonkatsu was perfectly cooked with a nice crunch. Stop by for some great Japanese food.

Food is okay (not as good as NYC), also too expensive comparing to quality/portion. Fantastic service

The food at this small Japanese izakaya is really great. My favorite is their Kari Fry. I always love fried oysters. However, none of the mainland fried oysters can beat their Kari Fry. They have the best fried oysters in the U.S.

If you are looking for legit Izakaya food, this absolutely is the spot for you. I’ve recommended it to several friends on island and they loved the food. Genbe has one of those menus that has a, “If it’s looks delicious, you should order it and you won’t be disappointed.” element. Not many restaurants can claim that. ?

Cute place. Came here Tuesday night around 7:30pm, just before the rush! The variety of baos were good. Spicy beef was best! This is more of a japanese restaurant as it offers everything. Typical izayaka are only grilled stuff which this is not. Everything is decent so it's nothing to die for. They have specials for the month. I ordered the special boa which had the deep fried soft shell crab.

A fun small Japanese restaurant with some authentic Japanese food. Good service . I had a very tasty Sukiyaki with quality beef and a very satisfying broth with a touch of sweetness . Found a great whiskey also. The tempura shrimp was crunchy and good. The seaweed salad had too much oil. I recommend this small comfortable place in Kihei.

This was my family's first meal when we got to Maui. We were welcomed with the nicest service. We got bao buns, udon, ramen, and the calamari. So we tried a variety of things and We loved all of them! Mine was the beef udon and I absolutely love it, I will definitely go back for it. The ambiance is super cute lots of pictures and decors around. Highly highly recommend!
