What a lovely little restaurant with amazing vegan ramen soup and delicious mochi dessert. We loved it! Beautiful and friendly folks! So enjoyable! Mahalo!
Great Japanese izakaya (ramen bar) in Maui. Decorated with anime figurines and old school Japanese ad art. The chef/owner personally came to our table to explain the menu specials (black squid ink ramen) and the hostess/server made a great beverage suggestion. We went back twice during our trip, it was so good! Arigato!
Close to the real thing in japan except the takoyaki is supermarket par and the yakiniku needs to be wagyu and cut nicer. I recommend hokke if you like fish. Sashimi is fire.

Based on the reviews, Izakaya Genbe is an authentic Japanese restaurant in Maui. The Spicy Tonkotsu is incredible, and the miso butterfish is super tasty. Stand-out dishes include the 3 kind sashimi set, hamachi Kama, negitoro maki, gyoza, shoyu ramen, okonomiyaki, and crème brûlée. The udon and sushi are very good, and every dish is cooked to perfection. The service is super friendly and attentive, making guests feel like they are at a friend's home. The atmosphere is great, and the interior feels like being in Japan. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality, especially during happy hour. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Maui and will be a must-visit place on every vacation.
