I’m not sure how you can butcher an online order so completely, but you’ve managed. Wrong order, zero confirmation from the clerk, and managed charge me for the wrong order in addition to the order we didn’t receive. All this in addition to not having a take-out queue, so I waited 20 minutes to even get the wrong, double-charged order.Zero stars, if Google would allow it.

Easy clear vegan menu with great options. The even gave us a free roll which was so kind! Really enjoyed the sweet potato sushi.

Good variety of vegetarian sushi options and a great ambience within the nice food truck plaza. You can feed the free range chickens roaming around the food truck court as well!

Wow! Oao certainly lives up to its name! I was just gifted their Firecracker roll (mahalo Christian! So very kind of you) and it was AMAZING! Highly, highly recommend. It was so fresh and had such great flavors! I will definitely be back :)

Overall a good experience. It was convenient, tasty and fresh. I just wish it had been more chilled. It was a warm day, eating outside.Parking: Watch out for puddles when it rains.Kid-friendliness: Open air, wooden picnic tables and benches, lots of open space.Wheelchair accessibility: Flat dirt lot, no curbs or sidewalks, minimal obstructions. This is at a Food Truck Court. Ordering windows are high.

Had the Hawaiian poke bowl and it was the best. The flavors were delicate and delicious. The rice was exceptional.

Must go in Maui, great quality sushi with weekly specials. Order online to avoid the crowds with extended wait times.

Went to food trucks behind Azeka shopping center in Kihei. OAO did have fresh and tender hanachivehich is what I was looking for sashimi style but didn't want to pay $32. So purchased 2 nigiri for $18. Still expensive. Still hungry had a seaweed salad well priced and that was perfect.

On Maui for vacation and one of the first spots we go to eat are the food trucks on Piikea Avenue. I was craving sushi and the Haleakala Roll special today was just what I needed! Melt in your mouth fresh fish. My new favorite place.

During our blissful week in Maui, my wife and I embarked on a gastronomic journey, eager to experience the island's best sushi offerings. Our adventure culminated on our last evening at Oao Sushi in Wailea, a fortuitous twist of fate that transformed our sushi quest into an unforgettable experience.Having no reservations, we found ourselves adrift in Wailea, with our preferred sushi haunts either fully booked or out of stock. As luck would have it, we stumbled upon Oao Sushi, a decision that would redefine our sushi standards. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, merging traditional elements with a modern flair, setting the stage for what was to become an exceptional dining experience. The owner and sushi maestro, JR Oao, whose name fittingly resonates with 'wow', personally crafted our Chef's Choice Nigiri platters. Each piece was a masterpiece, particularly the Toro and Hamachi Belly Nigiri, which were, without exaggeration, the best we have ever savored. Their flavors were a harmonious blend of the ocean's bounty and the chef's artistry. What truly set Oao Sushi apart was JR's personal touch. Seated at the bar, we had the privilege of hearing his inspiring journey – from his humble beginnings as a dishwasher in 2006 to realizing his dream of becoming a sushi chef and ultimately opening his own restaurant. His story of hard work and dedication added a unique and heartwarming dimension to our meal. The crowning glory of the evening was the dessert, an ube treat from JR's mother's recipe. It was a delightful surprise that beautifully wrapped up our meal.In a turn of events that we could only describe as serendipitous, what began as a desperate search for a sushi dinner ended in discovering a hidden gem. Oao Sushi didn’t just serve us a meal; it provided an experience that resonated with us on a personal level. It's a testament to how the finest experiences often come from the most unexpected places. Oao Sushi is now our go-to sushi destination in Maui, a place where culinary dreams are not just made but also shared.

Coming from the mainland, but this was the most amazing sushi I've ever had. A little tiny shop, and they put out absolutely 5 star food!

The Poke wasn’t bad per se, but at a $25 price point and given the small portion size, it was a little underwhelming. Also has significantly less ingredients than most Poke places.Maybe the Sushi is great (I’ll have to try it next time), but you can definitely get a better bang for your buck elsewhere as far as Poke is concerned.

Love this place. Takes a little while so you shouldn't be in a rush, but it's totally worth it. They have delicious food and a ton of vegetarian and vegan options. You've got to try it! It can get pretty hot in the outdoor seating area, so you should plan to go at a time of day that isn't so hot or get it to go.

I was so excited to eat fresh local sushi and was very disappointed. Honestly Salt Lake City sushi was 100X better. Idk where all these reviews came from.
