🌴 Best Brunch Stop on the Way to Waimea Canyon | Kauai Hidden Gem 🌴

If you’re island hopping from Oʻahu to Kauai and heading toward Waimea Canyon, this is a must-stop brunch spot.

We stopped at Holo Holo Grill on our way up the canyon, and it was the perfect fuel for a full day of hiking and exploring.

🌊 Located along the coast in Koloa, this spot has stunning ocean views, plus peaceful sights of waterfalls cascading near the pool — it honestly feels like you’ve wandered into a luxury resort hideaway. And speaking of luxury… it’s surrounded by multi-million-dollar condos and resorts, so the vibe is immaculate.

🍳 What we ordered:
• Classic eggs & bacon with toast / English muffin
• Crispy smashed potatoes (SO good)
• Rich, delicious coffee ☕
• Banana macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup 🥞

The pancakes were the standout — light, fluffy, island-style perfection, and incredibly filling without being heavy. One of my daughters ordered them and we all wanted a bite.

This brunch gave us the energy we needed to trek Waimea Canyon, and it was one of those meals that becomes part of the travel memory — not just a stop, but an experience.

✨ Highly recommend if you’re exploring Kauai, doing a canyon day, or just want a relaxed coastal brunch with incredible views.

For a busy hotel restaurant, this was a good choice. It is near the pool or you can sit at the small bar (10 seats at the actual bar counter). They have live music some nights. The food was made well (lunch bbq sandwich) and the dessert options were good (cheesecake was delicious and the lava cake so just ok). I believe they are also open late compared to other food places in the area.

Menu shown online is misleading. Restaurants setting is pool side. Good for sunny day. Not so for evening/night. Staff less cordial than expected. Dining setting too casual at prices charged. Food was average. There are better restaurants nearby with better atmosphere, menu choices at similar price like Isola Cocina, Bangkok Happy Bowl and Lava’s. Hopefully this review will help owners to make improvements. Corp Executive.

A great place for food or drinks poolside at this resort. Public welcome! They made a great mai tai!

Came with a toddler so we asked for a highchair and were put at a high top with a normal sized high chair. They said she could sit in it and just not be at the height of everyone else. Do they have any experience with kids? Why would she want to sit below our entire party where none of us can see her? Also it was the manager that placed us there. You’d assume they’d be someone with better service running a restaurant say a family resort.

Went for breakfast. The pancakes were great and enough to split. Service was great and friendly and the drinks from the bar were excellent.

Been visiting Poipu Kauai for over 15 yrs and just discovered Holoholo Grill and glad we did! Although it is located poolside in the Kōloa Landing Resort, it is open to the public with a refreshingly good breakfast menu. We loved both the Banana macadamia nut pancake and the Kōloa omelet. Service was fast and staff were attentive but get there early or before resort guests wake up or you’ll end up waiting for a little while. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area.

They gave us dirty coffee cups and the server never once checked on us. Really bad experience and the coffee tasted like water.

Holoholo Grill has been one of our favorite restaurants but the quality of food and service has sadly fallen off. The food texture was good, not over or uncooked, but none of our dishes had any flavor other than the dipping sauce. The food was no more tasty than would you would expect at a truck stop in I-5.
Even the drinks, which used be outstanding were nothing more than good.
The atmosphere remained 5 stars, but even the service was spotty. A couple of servers were hustling, but most were strolling.
Hopefully management will return Holoholo Grill to their earlier quality.

Went there for breakfast and this was the best breakfast we had during our stay. They have gluten free and vegan options as well.

Worst place we’ve ate on our vacation. Typical resort food with the same prices as much better places in the area. Coconut shrimp was deep fried to a crisp. Thought the chicken bites would be a safe bet - I was wrong. Ate two of them and then got a weird piece of chicken. It was all very greasy. Choose anywhere else to dine. Our bill was almost $100 for two people (no alcohol) - and I had an appetizer as my main meal.
