I can't do seafood but I had asked if possible to get a grilled cheese while my husband enjoyed the food there. They were amazing about it and the manager at Stevenson's was very accommodating and so was the manger at the tide pools. Needless to say they got me a great grilled cheese! Thanks for going the extra mile!
From start to finish everything was wonderful! We went for our anniversary and they acknowledged that, which was nice. The cocktails were delicious, food so tasty (try the dynamite lobster) and the flourless chocolate cake was so good! We sat outside on the lanai and had a great view of the sunset.
Living on the island, this is our favorite restaurant. Lisa Dubois has been our favorite server for many years, she always makes the evening extremely pleasant, always commented by our guests. Mahalo for all you do.
The sushi is nothing to write home about. Portions are comically small, and the servers don't inform diners that they will most likely be ordering an additional entree in order to have enough for dinner. We noticed the menus were left at each table after ordering as if this were the norm. There is no value at this restaurant and the food is nothing more than run of the mill sushi.
Weird we're disappointed with the very limited food selection. Also a featured dish Seafood Dynamite was obviously prepared well in advance and then heated up resulting in a very dry meal.
Greeter was so friendly and greeted us saying Happy Anniversary aww that's nice. Our server lady was also very attentive, thanks for our dessert. Everyone were nice and always checking on all of the tables including ours. Very nice feeling and a great dinner.
The sushi was all fresh and delicious. The service was very mediocre, especially for the expectation that this is a fine dining restaurant. Our food was literally just dropped at our table, no description or the cuts of sushi from the chef. The waitress checked once on us. We had to flag other people done for water refills and new chopsticks, clean plates, etc. I would not recommend this restaurant for the amount of money.
We always try to have a meal at Stevensons when we visit Kauai. The food and service is always excellent. Only reason it's not five starts is that the menu is a bit limited, a bit on the pricey side, and the ambiance leaves a little to be desired.
Beautiful restaurant....but this is where the positive comments end. The sushi was just average (but you'll pay a premium). There were TVs turned on playing football in the background. Cheapened the experience. The host staff was very friendly...the server was pleasant. Again...average? This place has the potential to be so much better.
I enjoyed this restaurant when I was in Kauai two years ago, and I enjoyed it again this month. The sushi choices were different, but in a good way. The only negative thing I have to say about the restaurants at the Grand Hyatt is they ask if you are a guest. I wasn't, and it seemed like we were not seated at the most desirable table at Stevensons and TIdepools.

Overpriced for mediocre food. The host was less than desirable and set a poor tone for the whole experience. Bus boy was amazing and waitress was nice as well. Wouldn't go back.
It's strange for the entire restaurant to smell so fishy - like something had spoiled and needed to be cleaned up. I've been to lots of sushi restaurants and have never experienced anything like it. Well stocked bar with top end liquor... offset with low quality mixers. Service was great - food was mediocre.
Was not worth the money. Our least favorite meal in Kauai.
Lights were blinding and sushi was meh

After making a 6:00 pm reservation we were told patio seating was first come first serve and that we would have to wait 45 minutes for the patio. being said there were 2 patio seats open. On the patio. Did not understand the restrictive experience and then was told the patio we were eventually seated at would need to be done in 25 minutes - had to express my extreme disappointment to the hostess Jessica and her colleague that they were ruining my special evening and that the 7:00 pm people were not my problem. I don't understand where the Aloha went. Not in a hurry to be back at This sad place. .
Food was good, service was good, “crowd control “ was non existent. It felt as if we were dining in a dive bar. They had a loud, obnoxious group of guests they were serving drinks to that were standing three deep around the end of the bar. Nothing was done to control the noise or perhaps have the people seated. A manager was informed yet they continued to serve them. This was at 6:00. If this is a bar, it should be advertised as such. I didn't expect to spend 200+ to be literally surrounded by bar loud patrons. We had to yell to be heard at our table. The servers were having a hard time maneuvering around them and our server was very apologetic. Not her place. Management should have controlled the situation.
