No visit to Poipu is complete without a visit to Tidepools. The design of the restaurant is absolutely like nowhere else on Kauai and of course the food is amazing.
Disappointing on every level for what is promoted as a high-end establishment at an expensive resort.
Kuulea, the hostess, was delightful. Mitchell is an awesome server!! The ambiance can't be beat. And the food looks and tastes are incomparable!
Food was mediocre. Tofu pad Thai was very bland with little to no sauce and the seafood bowl was small. My cocktail tasted like medicine I took one sip and ended up ordering a bottle of wine. The server never offered to remove the cocktail from our tab. I also booked during sunset not realizing there would be no view from the dining room. We couldn't even see the ocean. I would definitely opt for a restaurant like Rumfire or Beach House instead.
Overall, a very nice evening! We've been coming to Tidepools for over 30 years now. Always a special night out. Negative: my Opah was stringy and tough at one end. Needed my knife to cut...😞 Other entrees (mahi & ahi) were good but not great. Presentation was outstanding, Prices & value; well, it's Kauai and this was the Grand Hyatt...ambiance alone is worth the cost! Our server, Derrick, was a 10 out of 10!
Server was amazing. The location of the restaurant was charming. The food however for a Grand Hyatt was disappointing. The steak, not the seafood, was the best part of our meal.
Absolutely lovely food! Live kitchen demonstration, vegetables, healthy a Even kids loved it!!
Great food. Great service. Lovely setting. Hawaiian catch and ribeye steak were both delicious. GF scallops appetizer and candied lemon and beets salad a great start. Chocolate lava cake for dessert!
The food at Tidepools is excellent. The service was absolutely atrocious. We had to ask no fewer than 5 times for water, drinks, bread etc. Our waiter was MIA most of the night. our food came sooooooooooo late and we arrived after most people had eaten. When we were beyond ready to leave, my husband had to go look for our waiter who was eating in the kitchen.
Just a fantastic place. Food, ambience and service all top notch. Absolutely worth a visit.

Our dining experience at Tidepools was wonderful! The Chardonnay by the glass was delicious. We loved the ube bread rolls. The entrees were very fresh and delicious. -and presented beautifully. The local fish was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty and tender. The chocolate lava cake with ice cream on the side was decadent and delicious! Awesome atmosphere, tables seem like they are floating in the Tidepools, with beautiful koi fish swimming all around! Highly recommend! Make a reservation!
Our waiter Rob made our celebration special. Everything was delicious and beautifully served.
Sensational experience from start to finish! Tidepools is absolutely fantastic - the ambiance, the location, the service, and the food are all unbeatable.
Our server Marta was outstanding! Very friendly and right on point every step of the way. Atmosphere is great, food was tasty but my swordfish was overcooked and dry. The lobster and filet mignon were spot on though. Prices were typicall for this type of restaraunt. Overall a good experience as a whole.
Beautiful and romantic atmosphere. It feels like you're floating on a Koi pond. Absolutely should not miss.
