Unfortunately, we were unable to dine at the hungry coyote as they lost their entire business in the horrible Maui Lahaina fire. Wish them the best and hope they are able to build their business back up. Prayers.

Two words- taste bomb! Food is made with love! Very fresh- made from scratch with gusto. My husband ordered the enchiladas combo plate which came with three different meats- chicken, pork, and steak along with Mexican rice and beans. He was very satisfied and blown away by the taste of the food and the fresh salsas. Service was excellent too. Met the owner, Angela and the chef Marcos, both very warm and caring about quality ingredients, cooking traditional Mexican recipes with flair and style, and personalized service. A must visit while in Lahaina! ?️???️❤️???❤️❤️

Nothing but positive we have to say about this restaurant. Owned and operated by a family, wife and husband team, whom was a chief at multiple high end restaurants throughout his career. The food is top notch, I would pay $150/person for this high quality, both in the choice of ingredients, flavor and attention to detailed plating. Best food we had in Maui and I mean it. 1000% recommended!

A gem of a find! Cute patio screened off from parking (and I love the saris over the lights inside). One of the owners runs the front of the house, the other runs the kitchen. The food is simply amazing. Everything is fresh and cooked from scratch. Bring an appetite, and don't fill up on their super tasty chips. They're even wonderfully sensitive to gluten free.Dietary restrictions: Well versed in gluten free cooking, they even cook their flour tortillas on a separate grill from the corn.

Definitely a 5-Star for food and the owner/service. Food was excellent and all made from scratch. Great flavors and the barria tacos were fantastic! Great to support the local shop here!

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants I’ve found thus far (and I live in California so stakes are high). My favorite place to eat in Maui. The staff is incredible friendly and so welcoming! The food is perfect. The salsa is addicting. The enchiladas are incredible. Everything is so fresh! A must go to in Maui!!

What a wonderful spot. As a resident I live on the south side and as skittle as we like to drive to Lahaina I will drive up for lunch or dinner again at the Hungry Coyote. A most excellent owner that is passionate about the food and the restaurant. Kind and attentive staff. The Birria tacos were delicious and the ceviche tostados amazing. Home made hot sauce which is fantastic. It is a BYOB joint at this time so take your own tequila and they will give you the margarita.

If you want delicious food and friendly staff in a great environment- then eat here! You won’t regret it! Savory dinners from an awesome chef with the friendliest staff on Maui. We ate outside in the garden area which was adorable!

Arrived to no customers. Interior felt cluttered and unclean. Limited menu. We waited 10 minutes and no one came to take our order. We left, so can not comment on the food. Everything else HORRIBLE. Seemed very odd.

A nice little diamond in the rough. The restaurant is off the main Street, you have got to look for it, and seating capacity is limited, but the excellent food, service, and friendly staff make for a very enjoyable experience. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

We visited Hungry Coyote as a pit stop before our flight back home. They had live music that was soft and calm. A fun clean atmosphere and very kind hostess. When we ordered our food it was presented in a timely manner and was BEYOND delicious. The guacamole had the perfect amount of lime added to it. The shrimp was good size and had great flavor. The chef came out to chat with us. He too was very friendly. Through his cooking you can tell he enjoys playing with flavors. Very unique and great place to eat!! GO!!!!

Had lunch here two weeks ago. The food was amazing! Everything was fresh and packed with flavor. The owner is so nice and pleasant. She took the time to chat with us, despite being so busy. I wish they were located in Pittsburgh! Hungry Coyote would be on our weekly dining radar!!!!

Overall food was really good. Ambience wasn't what we envisioned for a Maui restaurant. Area was a little run down and underwhelming. Service was adequate. I'd go back for the food but the rest of it would keep me from doing that given all the other options out there.

My wife and I thought we would try it out as we are avid Mexican food fans and looking for something casual. Overall it seemed to have good reviews. We really wanted to love this place but the food is seriously not great and the menu is surprisingly limited. Started with chips, guacamole and salsa. Chips were ridiculously over fried and a good portion burnt. Guacamole was okay but the salsa was simply bad. Obvious they use Tabasco or Cholula in their salsa as the taste was unmistakable and overall was without substance at all. I ordered the 5 star enchiladas, as called out on their menu. If these were 5 stars it was Out of 20. 3 corn tortillas with chicken inside and golden over like a taco and covered with a bland verde sauce and cream. It was soupy looking and just plain flavorless. Service was really good however and very prompt and super friendly. Other than this, a very poor experience. Sorry guys, I was just hoping for something more.

It's not fancy - but we had a delicious, memorable evening at Hungry Coyote! It's in a strip mall near the Lahaina outlet stores. Very casual! Servers were friendly and attentive. My wife has a sensitivity to onions and garlic - they made her a version of their fresh catch Mahi Mahi special that was perfect. Plus guacamole with onion salsa on the side so she and I could both enjoy! You bring your own alcohol - I brought tequila and they mixed me 2 perfect tropical margaritas. We took a cheesecake home with us for dessert. Our dinners were among the best we've had in Lahaina and we'll be back for sure!
