“Really a great, well rounded, experience. I have been to Maui several times but this was my first visit to Merrimen's. It will NOT be my last.This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but the service, atmosphere, location and (of course) the food make it a very special place.”

“Fantastic cinnamon buns. The dough is more like a danish or croissant than bread or bun. At ~7" across, they are easy to share.In the morning they are a bakery. In the evening they are a pizza shop.They are often lined up out the door.”

We also had the Arepitas Fritas with pork, which was also very tasty. And the yuca fries were crispy and freshly fried.The rice and black beans in the Pabellon Bowl was very flavorful, and I had the same delicious Kalua pork as was in my arepitas. Very good, highly recommend.”

“First time dining at The Plantation house. We went there to celebrate our anniversary. We had such a beautiful experience. The staff was very attentive. “This was one of the first places we stopped for dinner after settling into our condo during our vacation. The boardwalk provides easy, scenic access to the restaurant so if you're staying anywhere in the nearby area, this is definitely a place you should try to walk over to one evening. It has beautiful, open air seating with a nice view. The food was really great too! Calamari was served in huge, thick, strips that were super tender. It was so much better than the typical rubbery deep fried calamari rings I've seen at restaurants on the mainland. You can't go wrong with any of the fish options either. We tried four different fish entrees over two separate visits and everything we had was delicious. The drinks are great as well, definitely expensive but also...potent.”

“Wasn't expecting to get Mexican food in Maui and I needed up finding the Best Birria tacos I've ever had. Quesabirria tacos are great and the consome tops it off perfectly. Not a lot of places to sit, but I'd eat these off of the ground if I had to. The owners are really friendly and the food comes out quick. A great stop right when you land at the airport at the food round up by costco.”

“Amazing people - my first stop in Maui and we really felt the aloha here! So impressed with the food here! The meats were tender and cooked perfectly. “I was here a week before the sad Maui fires and had a fantastic bowl of acai along with a beautifully presented bowl of fruits, with the papaya acting as the bowl. It was fresh and such a great start to the morning. Also tried a nice large mug of latte which didn't disappoint. I hope they can rebound and re-open soon! Mahalo.”

“What a little gem to find amoung all the food trucks in this area! Got the pulled pork fries, a MUST get item! Amazing, my belly was in love! Also got the Thai chicken tacos and cheese sticks which were good. I wish I could have tried everything but only was in town two days. Get the crème brûlée as it will satisfy your sweet tooth especially because I have rarely seen it in Plantbased form. Unlike most food trucks, food prep was fairly quick in the food truck area. There are picnic tables with umbrellas, free to enjoy the food we walked here from the embassy suites and is walkable pretty much from most of the hotels. I did not see any areas for cars to park, but there could have been behind the building/shopping plaza next-door.”

Catch of the day was great - always able to get a reservation even during Spring break - even accommodated our bigger party of 8. We went twice on our trip it was so good.Kid-friendliness: Took four young boys here - they were great and very accommodating. Big area on the grass for them to run around and play.”

“My wife and I were craving pizza and took a stroll down to Taverna. The pizza and service was phenomenal. We came back a second time during our stay and ate at the bar, with the same excellent service and pizza. Our server from the first night noticed us at the bar and made a point to come over to us and say hello. Also, what a great location at the Bay Course in Kapalua. We will be back! Mahalo”

“This place serves some of the best sushi on the island. Sushi is fresh and on average price wise with the rest of the higher end places. Rice is cooked perfect. Beer is on the expensive side. Service is pretty good.Parking is a rip off. You have to pay to park, unless you are already staying at the hotel. But you might even have to pay them. If you are spending $75 a person for dinner, parking should be included.”

“The food and the atmosphere were top notch. I highly recommend going for that. The service was less than poor. The host just pointed to a table for us to go and once our server (whom did not appear to even want to be there) took our order we never saw him again until he brought us the bill. Never checked on us, refilled our drinks, nothing.”

The prime rib was good and it came with steamed veggies and a choice or rice/fries/mashed potatoes. We felt it was a good price for Maui-$30 each.”

“Outdoor restaurant at the Hyatt serving food and drink right next the the beach. The restaurant can be accessed by the beach paved path or from within the Hyatt. They have a few chicken sandwiches available which can be hard to find on the island as most places server pork and fish. Nice atmosphere with live music at times.”

“Well, it's McDonald's. The main reason we went was because we heard that in Hawaii, they have Spam on the menu. I know, Spam. Apparently it is only during a breakfast dish served with eggs. We were there a little after lunch time so it was not on the menu. This was also the first time I had been to a McDonald's in maybe 9-10 years. Well, the Quarter Pounder with cheese still tastes the same! I suppose I would give it 5 stars for being a McDonald's, except I found it quite annoying that I had to have an employee unlocked the bathrooms just to go. That's just not right. Other than that, the people were friendly the food hot and fresh and it was a newer McDonald's. I suppose if you are in Hawaii on the island of Maui and you need to eat a good quick meal, Then this will fit the bill just fine.”

“Imagine the dense flavor of Gelato with the richness of ice cream, mixed in with those island flavors, like macadamia nut, coconut, or ube, and you have an unique local classic you won't find elsewhere. They also serve classic shave ice with a self-serve syrup bar for you to concoct your own combinations. Our server was friendly and patiently allowed us to sample almost all the flavors without making the slightest fuss. It's a family business with just a few tables, but there always seems to be a small crowd hanging out here. Across from the cannery mall, it was spared the devastation of the Lahaina fires. While Ulalanis and Lappert's remain closed, this is the place to go.”

“Every item here at a Merienda Maui food truck was delicious. The only mistake we made was not eating here sooner, since we would have returned to try more of the menu.We selected two types of tacos, the Shrimp and the Thai Beef Tacos. The shrimp tacos are served with a cabbage slaw, a ginger sesame dressing (not a strong flavor), gochujang aioli (dominant flavor that worked well with the shrimp), and some pickled red onions on top. Somewhat simple but all flavors combine well, the shrimp stands out with the aioli, and it has a tropical sense to it. The Thai Beef Tacos use a Thai marinade on the beef (sourced from Maui, though I couldn't tell the difference from regular beef in these chunks in a taco). Beyond that it's a common taco with a tomato salad (pico de gallo), jalapeño, cilantro, and mint (rather than a common diced onion pairing). The marinade infused into each piece of beef and truly carried the dish. I would have eaten it without the garnishes, though they do help fill out the taco. I also thought this was the most basic item we ordered, and would want to try out other items before repeating this.Lastly the Phili-bistek Sando with fries was the true star of the show. It reads as a cheesesteak with bell peppers and onions, and Mayo/chimichurri sauce on top. Yet I think this meat was also marinated, since I can't conceive how much umami was oozing from this burger. It is hands down the best cheesesteak I have every had...and I've been to Philadelphia. I found other recipes online that use a soy marinade to prepare the beef (tapa beef seems to be the Filipino name), and this sounds like it tasted. There was a lot of beef pieces, we shared the burger along 3 people, and I think that the circular shape made it seem larger than if it had been on a longer hoagie bread. Onion jam rather then regular onions would keep the tastebuds working, the Japanese Mayo would introduce both tangy and sweet flavors, and the chimichurri would add parsley, cilantro, and garlic notes. The burger was messy, but worth it. And the fries were extra crispy, similar to In-N-Out double fried fries but thicker. These work perfectly with just ketchup. We considered the Umami fries, which have gochijang and Mayo and Furikake at the same time, and I think all that sauce would reduce the crispiness of the fries. I would still try it, but the fries are top notch and a quick dip in ketchup is all that is needed. The Okonomiyaki Brussel sprouts also sound like an amazing Asian take on the vegetable and something to try next time.”

The pucking pancakes and ham, egg & cheese croissant were excellent. Made with love! The outdoor seating area provides an ocean view, parking is ample and the owner is congenial. “I'm a bit particular about my coffee and Kraken was one of my favorite coffee places in Kihei other than the green coffee shop which was great too!! The coffee wasn't watery (I find that to be an issue at a lot of places these days) and it was genuinely good!! Nice little spot.”

“Aloha Braised is always one of my first stops. Due to the August 2023 Lahaina wildfire, the food truck has found a temporary spot in Kahului on Alamaha, on the Dairy Road side. Enjoyed the Teppanyaki Thursday special with steak, shrimp, fried rice, veggies and ginger sauce. Aloha Braised also caters. Ordered pans of Furikake Mahi Mahi, Mochiko chicken with volcano sauce and hurricane sauce on the side, New York Steak, Pork Belly and Macaroni salad. We loved everything! Aloha Braised is hoping to be back in Lahaina at their Island Grocery location at the end of November. Check IG and Facebook for updates.”

“The BEST mac salad I have ever had in my life! We had their fish and chips, and their Korean BBQ chicken, and it’s incredible! The chicken is so juicy and flavorful, and the fish were so fresh! I highly recommend stopping by, ordering some great food, and leaving a tip for these amazing people.”

“Some of my favorite breakfast tacos I have ever had. Made fresh per order, with fresh homemade salsa that will blow you away. The three alarm and migos tacos are both incredible- so flavorful and the perfect way to start your day. Because they're made fresh, the wait can take some time- I recommend texting (yes texting) your order ahead of time to the owner/chef so you aren't waiting there too long. I go almost every morning when in Maui, it's that good. It operates out of a truck conveniently located off the road in a pull out area with a delicious açaí truck as well. So glad we bought T-shirts last year, I sport mone all the time in CA.”

Usually the Ube Ive had are just purple pancakes w/overly sweet Ube flavoring. The pancakes are fluffy, and not overly sweet! I also had the Island deluxe. To put it into perspective, this isolated location surprisingly had a deli that has adobo, mushroom chicken breasts, poke, wings, pizza etc..Very friendly staff obviously just pack some patients as its busy during the weekends and tables are hard to come by. “Delicious lattes! We got the macadamia nut (macnut) and Hawaiian honey lattes. We were the only 2 customers seated inside. It had comfortable seating and was air conditioned. The service was very quick and friendly. It also had cute merch!”

“We adopted this restaurant and typically ate there 2x per week when visiting Maui. The pesto pasta was wonderful and was the sleep and craft salad. We sure hope they will reopen somewhere after the fire that destroyed Lahaina.”

“The banana bread is awesome. Get it when it's warm and you won't be disappointed. There is a little walk through the forest, across the street, that leads to a rocky beach. The area is beautiful and looks like a good snorkeling area.”

“The woman who got us the shaved ice was so friendly and sweet! The shaved ice itself was also very good. A bit more of a crushed ice than shaved but let’s be honest here yall…it all tastes the same…it’s ice! The flavors I chose, mango and lychee were also delicious. The vanilla ice cream was a nice touch as well. Some people said pricing is not listed, however it is on the board when you walk in and add-on pricing is very clear (in front of your face). This was a cute shop in Maui and I would reccomend it for a quick and yummy treat! 4/5 for the atmosphere because it was a bit dark in the shop and we weren’t sure if it was open, however the friendly woman quickly asked if we were here for shaved ice to let us know they’re open! Again, friendly and delicious!* Please note, the lychee flavor is a clear syrup so the white side is not dull in color. It is simply clear flavoring!”

“Recommended by an employee at the hotel we stayed at and worth the trip off campus. Very small with limited seating options so getting take out might be ideal, but we were able to sit and had a great time. The staff was so friendly and helpful. There was a TV playing clips of people doing dumb things so the kids were occupied. Dole whip float, cheap wine and beer we're all great. We have complicated dietary needs and all pizzas came out quick and correct.”

“Love Longhis, Kaanapali! With Old Lahaina Town Longhis, gone, they have a location now in Marriott in Kaanapali. We had Easter Dinner there on the beach. Atmosphere is great, with nice views of the beach, ocean, and sunset. Food was great, service was fairly good, but because close to beach, there were some kids running around in bathing suits, no shoes to visit with their folks who were also sitting around our table. Not just one instance but a couple tables, had same experience. We were dressed up for a nice Longhis dinner, so did not expect the casual bathing suites. Food was good; service was a bit erratic, likely due to lack of enough help. First time at this location. I would return for the view and cocktails...perhaps dinner also...just not so formal dress next time for us.”

The combination of delectable dishes, including Crab Rangoon, Papaya Salad, and Green Curry with Chicken, along with a refreshing Thai Iced Tea, made for an excellent meal. However, there were a few areas where the restaurant could benefit from some updates.Let's start with the food—the star of the show. The Crab Rangoon was simply outstanding. “Fantastic cinnamon buns. The dough is more like a danish or croissant than bread or bun. At ~7" across, they are easy to share.In the morning they are a bakery. In the evening they are a pizza shop.They are often lined up out the door.”

“Great food and service. Eaten here twice during this trip. The shrimp in the Camarones Arepa was tender and cooked perfectly, and the tomato and bell pepper sauce was delicious. We also had the Arepitas Fritas with pork, which was also very tasty. And the yuca fries were crispy and freshly fried.The rice and black beans in the Pabellon Bowl was very flavorful, and I had the same delicious Kalua pork as was in my arepitas. Very good, highly recommend.”

“Wasn't expecting to get Mexican food in Maui and I needed up finding the Best Birria tacos I've ever had. Quesabirria tacos are great and the consome tops it off perfectly. Not a lot of places to sit, but I'd eat these off of the ground if I had to. The owners are really friendly and the food comes out quick. A great stop right when you land at the airport at the food round up by costco.”

“We had an amazing experience here. Not only was the Poke bowl delicious, but the service and hospitality were outstanding. Ford is a genuinely kind soul who truly enjoys people, sharing stories and loves what he does. The hotel itself is currently closed to the public because it is home to Red Cross workers at the moment. Our server Michael was also wonderful. They truly want their customers to have a wonderful experience at their restaurant and treat you like family. Please go here just to meet the wonderful folks running this restaurant.”
