“My wife has a gluten allergy and is vegan, making it challenging to find suitable dining options when we travel. However, during our recent trip to Maui, we were fortunate to discover several excellent establishments, and A`A Roots stood out with its incredible food. My wife particularly enjoyed a sandwich, describing it as the best she's ever had. She was very pleased with both the service and the food. The chickpea burger and salad were very, very good.“

“Great Food, But Way Too Loud The food and service were both excellent — no complaints there. Unfortunately, the live band playing downstairs was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation and had to keep asking our server to repeat himself. Two nearby tables left because of the noise. If you're hoping for a peaceful early dinner, skip the 4:30 PM time during happy hour music. Great restaurant, but the volume ruined the vibe.“

“10/10!! On everything! The line was a little long but it flew by pretty quickly. The view was amazing, the service was even better BUT the FOOOD!!! oh my goodness!! And the price threw everything over!! It was great!! We ordered the fried rice (smaller plate) and two pancakes and it was perfect for 2. For sure try the pineapple pancake with the speciality locally made coconut syrup, and the chocolate macadamia nut pancakes. Will for sure return if we ever return back to Maui!!“

“The food and atmosphere are incredible. Service was good except we asked for waters and they did not come. My wife finished her wine and he came back to see if she wanted another, she did but said not as we were also asking for the waters. He seemed a little upset that we were not ordering more wine. When the waters did eventually arrive we then ordered drink refills. I suspect this was simply a one off on the service and we will definitely be back in the future.“

“The Korean-style chicken barbecue was flavorful, though slightly on the dry side and could have benefited from a bit more sauce. Portions were more modest compared to Won’s in Kahului, though it’s worth noting this isn’t a dedicated Korean establishment and shouldn’t be judged as such. Overall, it was a wholesome, satisfying, and health-conscious meal. Be aware that seating is limited to outdoor tables only.“

“We got plate lunch at several places on the island while we were here. I wasn't sure how this place would compare to the food trucks since it's a franchise. I'm happy to report that the combination plate we got here was the best we tried. The mac salad was the best (most places we tried prior had no mayo, and we prefer mayo in ours). None of the meat was too salty. The steak was cut so thin and was very flavorful and tender. The chicken thighs were perfect and not dry. And the ribs were great as well. I saw several locals going in which also provides confidence. Lastly, I got a spam musubi and it was great; definitely get one before you leave the island.“

“Seriously the best place on ALL levels. Get there when they open at 11:00 as it gets very busy. There was a line out the door when we were there. Reasonably priced and great to take out for a day at the beach. We had an assortment of food items as we went a few times on our stay in Kahana. Lobster Bisque - Made fresh and it is the best I have ever had Poke - Fresh and delicious. By far the best I have ever had Shrimp Cocktail - You cant go wrong with a classic favorite Fish & Chips - nicely fried - not greasy and large portion Grilled/Fried Fish Tacos - They were both equally delicious and large portions Oyster Shooter - I could have had a dozen Seaweed Salad - Fresh and great flavor Crab Cakes - OMG The piece de resistance though was was the fresh Mahi Mahi that we barbequed. We used the 10 minute soy ginger marinade and it was better than outstanding. All of the workers are so nice and helpful. They work hard and take care of you from start to finish. Thank you Jim and crew for sharing your food and hospitality. You bet I will be back on my next visit to Maui. Mahalo!“

“This place is very a very unique and interesting place!! We had breakfast and we’re served by a new server from Cali “ Mati” like us!! And she was not only a sweetheart but fast and one of the only servers doing circles in the whole restaurant and still making sure we we’re doing okay the whole time. The food was great. One of our favorite moments of the whole trip was grabbing lunch, splitting sandwiches, and literally watching whales from the table. Lots of variety; some staple items available every day but they switch it up, too. Love the view and the cold brew...ah! So good. We have been eating like kings and queens!“
