Kapena's Wood Fired Kitchen

Great pizza and actually wood fired! Loved the location and ambience (open air and woodsy). Staff was excellent, waitress was so adorable, so happy and upbeat (little blond young lady, please if you read this tell her she was appreciated). Bartender was so great too, I ordered a drink that required him to come over and create a smoke bubble on my drink, the drink was delicious and he happily came over to the table so the bubble wouldn’t blow out on the way over. Ordered the special bruschetta and it’s was 100%. Also ordered the works and margarita pizzas and both were very good.

3 couples, three pizzas - The Works, Pepperoni & Mushroom and Double Mushroom. All were outstanding. The sauce was delicious as was the crust. Loaded with toppings. We were so happy to try Kapenas on our trip this year. Gui was very attentive and gave us excellent service. We will be back!

We had the short rib pizza. It had plenty of short ribs and lots of mushrooms. A very tasty pizza. We also had the Caesar salad. It was fresh and very good. I ordered the local lager which was unavailable, so I ordered another local beer-Bikini Blonde. The bartender who brought it made some wisecrack about wanting a blonde in a bikini. This was an unwelcome and unnecessary comment. When the waitress brought the check, she hadn't removed the beer that wasn't available. We did order before 6pm and got happy hour prices. With the exception of the crack by the bartender and the unintentional overcharge, we really enjoyed the food.

The dining experience was delightful! Very friendly and efficient waitstaff. The pizza was very tasty and prepared just the way we ordered. The ambience was relaxed and created a great experience.

Delicious wood-fire pizzas! Enjoyed three different pizzas and all were great. Highly recommend if you are looking for fresh ingredients and yummy thin-crust pizza. Friends are headed to Maui next month and we will tell them to put this on their list!

We went to dinner with our family friends. Four teenagers and four adults. The food was amazing! The service superb!! The Mai Tai was by far the best one on island! Can't wait to go back for dinner again soon!?

We were staying at Lahaina Shores, and drove to Ka’anapali for dinner, only to be told there was a 1-hour wait (restaurant didn’t take reservations!) so we turned around and decided to try Kapena’s. What a great find! (I HAd noticed other people at the hotel were bringing in pizza boxes!) We sat at the bar and ordered gin and tonics from Nick, the bartender, and, as well, a Caesar salad and a Margharita pizza, both to share. GREAT drinks! DELICIOUS salad AND pizza! We highly recommend Kapena’s and look forward to going back when we go to Maui again!

The place wasn't hard to find and had a lot of parking. It was a really busy night so I'm glad we made reservations ahead of time. We got seated and ordered drinks. The drinks were ok, not the best. Then we ordered appetizers and got a salad & French onion dip. Those 2 were the highlight of the meal. French onion dip was delicious! We got the pizza with everything on it(I forget what it was called) but it was alright, I've tried better. The pizza was soggy and when you'd take a bite all the toppings would fall off. Overall, the food was ok but for the price I had to pay I wouldn't come back. It was also really loud, my partner and I barely could hear each other speak. Service was good though.

Had dinner with family of 5. Pizza was delicious as well as shrimp appetizer. Was a little stuffy inside dining. Service was slow. Kids drinks had no lids. Would return for the food!

My daughter's 40th birthday. The place was clean. The ambience was on point the service was really bad. There was one guy . he was a host. He got our table ready, and sat us. He also waited on us as well as everyone in the restaurant except for the bar it took at least 25 minutes t to take a drink order. We quickly ordered our pizzas and salads we would've ordered more but we had to flag him down for everything. Very disappointing the food, however is excellent. I am from San Diego and used to service the prices. There were high, so I expect great service as well. probably will never go back again Only because of the service not the food.

Discovered this pizza restaurant by accident! What a discovery! My taste buds are happy again to have found a fantastic pizzeria. We are spoiled foodies from Manhattan and missed really good pizza here around Lahaina. Kapena’s is at 505 Front street. A bit away from the busy center of town at a small shopping center. Nice friendly modern place with great waitstaff and the best pizza I had away from NYC. Really really good! Great salads also. Nice bar area. Reservations a must! It gets busy there. We went around 4:30. They serve specialty pizza and whatever you like to put on it besides the menu. I highly recommend this wonderful, quality pizza restaurant. A thank you to a very smart owner that knows what must be done to make customers very happy and have them coming back for sure!??

Great pizza (the Sweet & Smoky) and garlic shrimp appetizer, very friendly, laidback but attentive staff and a fellow wandered in and was allowed to sing and play a few songs at the bar that the customers and staff all enjoyed. Drinks aren't cheap but my cocktail was good and overall it seems like a lovely, warm, good humoured spot for some Island vibes.

Mason, our server, was outstanding! We are on the island on vacation with friends and going this restaurant online. Everything was a 10!! Will definitely be back! Bruschetta, Maui Onion Dip and 4 pizzas later - phenomenal food!

Stopped at Kapena’s for happy hour and went back for dinner…. Great vibes! Happy hour was fun with drink specials and local brewed beer. Our bartender Nick is funny and personable. It was fun talking story with him when he wasn’t busy. Another bartender, Lexi joined him behind the bar. They both make great drinks! Lexi and Nick were great at making drink suggestions to fit your tastes and mood. Shane the owner/chef stopped by to say hello and ask how everything was. Matthew has a can do attitude and was able to get us a last minute table for dinner for a party of 5, as they were nearly booked! Thanks Matthew for working your magic! Our server for dinner was Nohai and is knowledgeable about the menu, kind and efficient. We came back for dinner and brought friends. We shared pizzas and entrees. The bruschetta was plentiful and tasty. It is served with garlic rubbed toasted bread. The roasted garlic shrimp was so good. The shrimp were big and cooked just right. It is served with bread to ensure you get every last drop of the delicious sauce. The fabulous pizzas were made by Justice a very professional and personable young man with a great smile. We enjoyed the BBQ Pulled Pork pizza ( just the right amount of sauce), Farmers Market, and the Braised Short Rib pizza. They were all really good. The pizza crust is made in house and toppings were fresh and plentiful. We did not have a salad, but they are individually made and look awesome! Next time. Mason, he seems to do a little of everything. From greeter, to server and running food and clearing tables. He always has a smile on his face and will make you smile as well.There are many staff that we did not meet and/ or were behind the scenes. Thank you to all! We have returned a few times since dinner for happy hour and appetizers. We had the pleasure of meeting Nikki, Shane’s wife. We sang the praises of all of the staff being so friendly and working so well together, and the delicious food. Justice stepped from the pizza oven and filled in as bartender for a bit. His mixology skills are right on! We share the passion for adventure, travel and a great margarita! If you are looking for a fun place, filled with aloha, Kapena’s will not disappoint. We will definitely be back!

Came for our honeymoon, this place came highly recommended. Drinks were great. We ordered the roasted garlic shrimp app. This was delicious. We ordered the pork belly pizza with jalapeño's, cilantro, and pineapple. This was a home-run! Our server Mason was awesome, along with the three women we met at a semi-joined table. If you come here you will not be disappointed... unless you're a pretentious idiot! Thank you for an awesome evening while we celebrated our honeymoon.
