Not wanting another pricey buffet at the Hyatt regency, we came to the Kihei Cafe when we found out that eating local, another restaurant was no longer operating because of the fire in Lahaina. There was a huge line out the door which spoke well of the place.
I'm not a huge breakfast person and ended up getting the pork fried rice, my sons had a surfer dude sandwich and an original breakfast.
Well my pork fried rice was just okay, it was greasy, not super hot and generally not super tasty, their surfer dude sandwich was a hit with my 15-year-old and the original breakfast was also a hit with my 11-year-old.
You stand in line to order at a counter, give them your name and wave when the server yells your name and brings your food to you. Service was fairly rapid.
As everything else in Maui in 2024, prices were fairly high for us mainlanders and the meal for the three of us came to $85 not including tip. Pretty high price for essentially a cafeteria service.
My son ended up getting sick after eating the surfer dude sandwich we think. Maybe from the very undercooked eggs in the sandwich which had the albumin still clear and runny. It could have been something else also.

This place has really good food and excellent service. Not much options for vegetarian. In fact nothing other than the yogurt. It would have been great if they could adjust their menu and customize it for vegetarians. Overall, I would highly recommend this place if you are not a vegetarian.
On our way from Lahaina to Wailea, we stopped here for coffee. While planning our trip, this cafe came up multiple times for a tasty treat. Though we just stopped for coffee, we definitely wished we had more time to try the food. They had these massive cinnamon rolls displayed at the counter that looked amazing plus a lot of the menu items looked authentic to the area. For what it’s worth the coffee was good and the banana bread was the best we’ve had!

Really great breakfast and lunch 😋 we had the chilaquiles rojos and Ribeye melt both were delicious options. Oh and i didn't know this but press the light button in the bathroom because it turns off lol there's a nightlight inside the stalls but it did caught me off guard 🤣

Wow. We showed up and there was a line out the door. We contemplated turning around but I'm glad we didn't because the rest of the visit was amazing. You order up front and then take a seat. Almost as you sit down and finally pick a table... BOOM breakfast is served. By far the fasted served meal HOT I might add that I'd rate 10 out of 10. The loco moco was amazing. The beef patty was huge, so juicy, and the gravy was delicious. It can easily serve 2. I will say we didn't see a server once we started, and the birds outside will sit in the roof edge, and one almost dropped in our plate soooooo. All in all, it's a great spot, can't hate on the birds, lol. They and the food are also what makes maui great.
