Decided to give Maui Brewing Company a try while we were in Maui after seeing some online reviews that seemed generally positive. While I didn't have high expectations, I made a reservation here expecting mostly good, even if generic, food. Unfortunately, even my not so high expectations fell short. Positives: Right on Kaanapali beach side and gorgeous sunset views. Conveniently located to all resorts in Kaanapali. Negatives: Service was not great. While our food came out quickly, our server seemed generally indifferent and we had to wait for silverware even after the appetizers arrived to the table. My partner ordered a Coke and when the server brought it out, they said the restaurant ran out of ice (?). Food overall was okay. Burger was just okay, short ribs were decent, as was the cod. However, the steak nachos were not very good (lots of chewy parts of steak bits and soggy chips). The most disappointing was the fish and chips, which seems like a fairly standard dish and hard to mess up. After a few bites, the texture felt all wrong and my partner wondered if they had used chicken instead. When we asked the server, all they said was that it was swordfish! Swordfish?! We have never had swordfish in fish and chips. It's not flaky at all - more like a tuna steak - and the texture and flavor is not at all what you expect with fish and chips. It really did taste more like chicken (and not very good chicken). We double checked the menu and it only said “catch of the day” in the description, so maybe we shouldn't have expected the flaky fried fish that we've had in every other version of fish and chips we've ever had. My partner never leaves food unfinished but could not eat any more of this dish. There was also no attempt from the server to make it right (They definitely had cod since it was on the menu for another dish, but apparently chose not to use it for fish and chips for some reason). We paid the bill and left early w/out ordering dessert.
The tuna roll appetizer was terrible, probably because the tuna was cooked vs raw, it tastes more fishy when cooked. We ordered two of these and none of the 5 of us liked. Fish taco's were ok, fish was swordfish and seemed fresh but they were battered and fried. Wish we would have asked if blackened or grilled was an option. Burger was ok, drinks from bar were good. Service was okay, we complained about a Coke being very flat and she just said ok. We paid our bill in full and left a 20% tip in spite of the food and service.
Our server was an older lady who never shared her name with us. Where we were sat was very bright sun, and with recent sunburns we asked the hostess if we could move. She moved us to a shady booth across the aisle (she was very kind). When our server saw this she was very rude and told us we can't “just switch tables”- which we had not. She was not attentive to our table at all and was not knowledgeable about the menu for my gluten allergy. We had to ask for refills of our water and/or another server would bring it. When we asked to split the check instead of one, she was very rude about it. As we were trying to split it, we made a mistake for one item and were told “I already did it how you told me so this is how it is.” She then hovered over us as we paid, which made tipping very awkward.
Great food, fun vibe. Totally worth it. Good value for the money. Also a little off the beaten path which is nice.
The service and ambience was excellent. However, the food was not. First of all, no where on the menu did it mention that the fish tacos were battered and fried. My daughter is gluten free and had to peel the batter off of her fish before she could eat. My husband's burger was tiny, and for the price you would think it would be bigger than a fast food burger. Also, $6 extra for fries. And $7 for their "house made root beer" which my husband said was just so-so.
Service was great and the scenery was beautiful. The food was fine and price high but that's normal here.
Me and my family really enjoyed coming here. The meals were outstanding. The service was incredible. And an amazing view. 10/10 recommend. Coming back soon!!
We had a wonderful time with Racine! She is amazing!! Food and drinks were really good. We head there whenever we're here! See you soon!
We were a little early to check into our hotel, so decided to grab lunch. We grabbed a couple apps, truffle fries and calamari fries and best apps of our trip! Would recommend pina coloda slushie!!
Our food was enjoyable, and the new location is absolutely beautiful. However, the service left much to be desired. While our server was friendly, he seemed distracted and overwhelmed throughout our visit. We had to repeatedly ask for basic items, including napkins and silverware, which we never received before our appetizers arrived. Only three of the four drinks we ordered were brought to the table, and we had to remind him about the missing one. He said he forgot it. After that, he became occupied with a large 20-person party, leaving our table and nearby guests unable to get refills or place additional drink orders. To end the experience, he handed my husband the payment machine and stood over his shoulder watching him complete the transaction, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. While we understand that servers work hard, tips should be earned based on the level of service provided — not pressured. We hope this was just an off night, as the atmosphere and food showed promise.

We probably picked the wrong place coming here. Limited wine selections and really only one non-fried cooked fish option. Our bad. It's probably right for someone, but it wasn't a great choice for us. Our server was nice.
Service was a little slow to start and made us wait till our exact reservation time even though we were 5 minutes early and our table was ready... had to send back one appetizer since the beer cheese was burnt. However, drinks were great, entrees delicious, and atmosphere was great
Love their beer and they do it awesome, location for a pint or three is a must. I think if your just having some simple shareable food then you will be fine. Breakdown happens when you are ordering an actual dinner, food and drink is served by different runners so you may be halfway through your meal before you have a drink or the other way around.
We had exceptional service, a table by the window (overlooking the patio which was next to the beach), and delicious food. Reservations seemed necessary when booking online but the restaurant was 1/2 empty (maybe leaving room for walk-ins?) between 5-6:30 pm. It's a great setting being so close to the water and the sunset for a causal dinner out.
The hostess was rude. We received the appetizer before our drinks. Food was mediocre based on cost with other restaurants in Whalers Village. Disappointing as we like their beers. The outdoor setting was nice though.
