Roy’s is set on the Ka’anapali golf course. The inside of the restaurant leaves a little to be desired. It’s very basic. Some of the other reviews state it being bright and louder, which I would say is accurate. Feels like a slightly upscale clubhouse restaurant.

That being said, everyone that helped us that evening were very nice and accommodating. They made you feel like you were in a fancy restaurant. Our server, Christina, was fantastic.

The food, including the appetizers and main course, were delicious. Our table enjoyed the calamari, bao buns and beet salad to start. Then we had the butterfish, macadamia crusted catch, which was Mahi, tiger shrimp, ribeye and fish/shrimp duo. We all enjoyed our meals.

As with any of the other “elevated” restaurants on the island, you will want to make a reservation.

One star deduction for their website menu prices not matching what they are currently charging. We decided to celebrate our anniversary at Roy's after a recommendation from a friend and checking their menu online. We had reservations yet it took a few minutes before we were seated. While waiting at the hostess desk we noted that the noise level was quite high and the restaurant had a casual dining ambiance. On looking at the menu I noticed that the prices were higher than what I had seen online just an hour earlier. My dish was $6 more and my husband's was $7 more. Our fish dishes were delicious. Normally when we eat out we can only eat half our plates and take the rest to eat later. The portion sizes were moderate with nothing left for later. We split a dessert. I know prices on Maui are really high, but we were shocked that our total for just one entrée each and the split dessert, no appetizers, no drinks, came to $175 after taxes and tip. That left a bad taste for the rest of our visit to the island.

I grew up celebrating special occasions at Roy’s Kaanapali, so we booked a dinner expecting the same high level of food and service — but sadly, it fell short.

We waited about 20 minutes before a server came to our table, and the wine service was disorganized (we were told there was only one red, then that it was out, and the server seemed unfamiliar with the list). The pork ribs appetizer was fantastic, and the pork shank entrée was excellent, but the $32 Caesar salad was very plain and underwhelming.

Service was inconsistent all night — we had to flag down other staff for drinks, waited for wine after our mains arrived, and our take-out dessert was missing the ice cream.

For a $350 dinner meant to be special, this was very disappointing due to the service. As a longtime supporter, I won’t be returning for some time.I grew up celebrating special occasions at Roy’s Kaanapali, so we booked a dinner expecting the same high level of food and service — but sadly, it fell short.

Roy's used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but no longer. The menu has changed, the ribs were over-sauced, the shrimp were overcooked, and sadly, the chocolate soufflé never showed up. We waited at least 15 minutes after we finished and it still was not done. And YES, we ordered it at the same time we ordered dinner. Plus the restaurant is cold, air conditioning turned way up. Our server Desi was very kind and friendly.

Ribs overly salty and unpleasant soy like sauce. One rib dried out. Coconut shrimp sour sauce. Usually served with sweet marmalade sauce. Butter fish overly salty and unpleasant soy sauce and dried out. Chocolate soufflé not really a soufflé. Cheated us on prices. Prices on check higher than prices on menu.

We had lunch here this week, and based on the many positive reviews we had heard, we arrived with high expectations and were looking forward to an enjoyable dining experience. The ambiance was wonderful, with a pleasant view overlooking the golf course, and the service was excellent. Our servers were attentive, friendly, and helpful throughout our visit.

I ordered the stir-fried tofu with vegetables and rice. While the presentation of the dish was very appealing, I unfortunately found it to be overly salty, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. It left me wondering whether the seasoning had been adjusted or tasted prior to being served.

Overall, while the setting and service were strong positives, the food did not meet our expectations, especially considering the price point. For this reason, it is unlikely that we will return, though we do appreciate the professionalism of the staff and the pleasant atmosphere.

The food was delicious and the service was prompt. I ordered the meat loaf which was a bit dry because it was put on the grill otherwise it was very good and and ample portion. My wife had the short ribs which was done to perfection.

Great food. First server was less than average but we requested a change from the manager and Daisy did a great job of covering. Both fish dishes that we tried were delicious. Mai tais were good as well.

Not the Roys of old. Food was not great. After Golf type of place and crowd. Indoor outdoor carpet. Service was good but that's about it.

Opentable Diner

Service was excellent. Location is nice with easy access and parking. Ribeye steak was not great. Cut did not have much decent meat. Asked for Medium, got rare.

We had a great dinner at Roys, the food was amazing. We had the calamari, macadamia nut crusted fish and butterfly. Everything had amazing flavor and was perfectly cooked. Our server was great and we will come back again our next Maui trip
