We dined here in 2020 when this place was called Aloha Mixed Plate and we have the best memory of sitting all the way in the back by the water with our two little babies. Hubby and I had also dined at the original Star Noodle way up the road back in 2015.
This time around, getting a reservation was tough. Even then, we had to wait a long time to get seated at the back, our original table, which was fine with us.
Hubby got the Ginza Ninja drink. For our little girls and me, we had the cucumber limeade and the strawberry lemon soda.
We got the miso ramen for the girls. Hubby ordered the Singapore noodles but felt something was missing. The spices didn’t quite hit and the flavor just wasn’t there.
Our server recommended the Look Moore Funn for me. It was rolled handmade noodles that looked like scallops, but the taste didn’t sit right with me. I didn’t want to make a fuss, but this just wasn’t the same experience we had cherished years ago.

Sitting here now 6/20/25 7:45. Writing this review while still eating as I’m having some of the best ramen I’ve ever had and I’ve had A LOT. We had a large party so tried a wide range of of menu items and they were al outstanding. We sat at the bar and our bartender(Johnny) made several outstanding recommendations. Johnny and the other staff were also outstanding, friendly and helpful. They got us in even though they had a full house. One of the best restaurants we have had on all of the different islands!

We really wanted to have a WOW experience after the recommendations and reviews but it fell a little flat for us. The atmosphere is nice, just a little bright. (Would be nicer if the lights were not so bright like a cafeteria.) The front staff was polite. We were seated on time. Our waiter was lackluster… not mean but certainly not friendly. The waiter barely greeted us and seemed overall disinterested in his job. The pork buns were good, not spectacular. The Look Moore Funn had one scallop and maybe three shrimps, the portion being pretty small but it did taste good. My daughter had the garlic noodles and they were super dry, she had to add soy sauce to give it any flavor and not make it so dry. My husband had the pad Thai, he liked it but a lot of noodles with little shrimp and chicken. We probably wouldn’t go back if we were to return to Hawaii.

We booked this dinner visit way in advance. We were able to get a 5:30 reservation Just Before Sunset that we were able to watch from the bench at the edge of the water. The restaurant is done beautifully. We were out on the patio and immediately greeted by the most beautiful little green gecko. Such a great experience. We wanted to come in for a couple cocktails but unfortunately quickly found out they still did not have their liquor license. We ordered the shrimp tempura and trust me when I tell you these were the largest shrimp I had ever seen. What a delicious plate. The sauce is to die for. The chicken kabobs were delicious. Then we ordered the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai. Although delicious, we were a little shocked after having the most delicious jumbo shrimp ever that there was only one piece of shrimp in our pad thai a little minimal on the chicken. All in all still very delicious. Mahalo.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Maui!! Their miso salmon and ramen are top quality, and the noodles all hand made in house. The atmosphere around is filled with a bright vibe of tropical colors and the perfect amount of shade to capture the island weather without there being too much sun. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is beyond measurable. Praying star noodle and the rest of Lahaina make a recovery from the horrible fires. Everyone deserves to try this place!

Update (after recent visit) - after years of repeat dining here we had a disappointing visit. Reception hostess was polite but looked sad like she had a really bad day. Hapa ramen noodles texture was different, and the broth was dark but just salty and didn't have the usual delicious flavor. Fried soup with chunks of rice noodle was just terrible this time ---- it was way too salty and tasted like plain soy sauce. Servers seemed overwhelmed and it was difficult to flag one down for missing noodle soup spoons. My drink order never made it into the system. However, the steamed pork belly buns were totally delicious as usual. And you still can't really beat the ambiance of the patio dining area and the million dollar views.#####We always have a meal here when in Lahaina. Always excellent service and comfort food. I love their pork bao and the Star udon. They are super popular so get a reservation to avoid disappointment!
