We had an absolute amazing dinner! Randall was an excellent chef and entertainer. The other two families we were paired with were wonderful company. We all had a lot of laughs and a great meal!

We were really looking forward to our hibachi night, but unfortunately, it missed the mark. They charged $11 for fried rice (at least it was enough for two), but there was no Yum Yum sauce or even soy sauce offered, which was surprising. The restaurant was incredibly loud — we could barely hear the chef, which took away from the experience. They also forgot my scallops and only brought them out at the very end. Overall, it wasn't a great experience, and we won't be going back.

Service was fast and efficient, our drink order was taken quickly then we had to order right away. The menu confused us, and we didn't clarify with the staff- we should have. The menu has 2 entree options, but they are really your main. So we ordered seafood options for our entree, but that was the only protein we received. In hindsight we should have ordered the ‘Combination Entree' and got 2 proteins. We should have clarified. But we were not disappointed with our seafood and our chef was a local from Maui, his name was Jett and he was wonderful. A fun experience- be sure to upgrade to the bacon fried rice!! You won't regret it!

Our chef was bad!!! He practically showered our food with oil!!!! It was soo gross! Such a waste of good meat and seafood to be putting that much oil!! We are pretty upset to pay such price for such awful cooking.

Average food and experience. Lobster was poor. Chef made mistakes with his onion volcano. Not worth the money.

Went to the restaurant while in Hawaii for vacation. The hibachi was a great experience. Both the food and service were good.

We eat at Japanese steak houses often so our expectations are high. Food was sub-par. Ribeye steak was very fatty and therefore edible meat was only about 2/3 of the portion. Rice was overly flavored with lemon and not very good, especially given the portion was as an additional $11...... The people were great. Service was good and the chef was great but, overall, $170 for two people when 1/3 of the entree was inedible, yielded a poor experience.

The food is good and prepared simply ( think Benihana) . Not gluten free friendly in terms of alternative dishes. My wife couldn't eat the soup or dessert and was sick after eating sauces she was assured were gluten free.

Chef Randall was a highlight of our night! (He deserves a raise! ;-] ) the chef was very interactive and funny. Ambience was very good, and the wait staff were on their game. The food was delicious - huge and flavorful scallops and shrimp, very tender lobster, and steak cooked to perfection. Wonderful family experience!

Our Chef, Joshua, was awesome! He was super funny, fun, and very interactive with not only the adults, but the children too. The food was all cooked to our liking and it was very, very good. We will definitely be back again. Mahalo Joshua and staff!

Booked through Open Table - only availability was 5 pm and 7:15 pm At 5 pm the place was completely empty. One table filled at 6 pm Looks like your reservation system is not accurate.

The service and food quality has gone downhill. They no longer serve Hot sake. They do not cut up your shrimp and it still has the tail on it, and then you need to ask for a knife. Subsequently, the edges of the larger shrimp get dry and hard. They also no longer have filet mignon. Their ribeye was not very good or flavorful. The food prices were high for the quality of the food. They charge $11 if you want garlic fried shrimp instead of steamed rice. We waited an extra 15 to 20 minutes for a large party that never showed up and said they were late. They have you come 10 minutes early so you can all be seated the same time. I don't care if it's a long group they should follow the same rules. Anyway, we were very disappointed this time. Two years ago, we went to the restaurant twice I would not go there again, unless they up their game on food quality and give the option of hot SAKE and filet mignon like they did the last time we were there. Change is not always good.

I wanted to love Teppan-Yaki Dan. I had made reservations over a month in advance and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were really looking forward to a fun night. First, the good: The food was very good and the portions were substantial. I had the scallops and my husband had the fresh fish of the day. Staff were consistently professional and polite. Now, the not so good: I was expecting an energetic “show” like experience. This was essentially a meal that was cooked in front of you. We were really disappointed. Not a lot of small talk or “show”. Chef Randall, while skilled, was not particularly engaging and there was little if any small talk among the guests at our table as a result. It was hot and smoky in the small room that housed the teppan tables. I know this is due in part to the cooking that goes on at each table but better ventilation is definitely needed. It was loud and the acoustics were poor. It was expensive, over $200 for the two of us. This was a one time thing for us. We will not return.

One of the best teppanyaki experiences we've ever had! We always come here when visiting. Every time it seems like we're seated with a bunch of locals, so you know it must be the best!

The food is ok, but it makes no sense to do a hibachi restaurant with 0 view right by the ocean in Maui at a 4 star resort. I booked based on the menu which was Japanese with steak and lobster and fish...seemed fine for my first night in Maui right at my hotel, but it was not what I expected and would not do again.
