Change your schedule on yelp and google maps that you are closed on Sunday it’s showing that you’re open on Sundays and when you are not! that was really disappointing, and misleading when we pulled up we heard ur phone was going off non stop

- Food: The food was really delicious and is recommended as a small snack in between.
- Ambience: The place looked a bit run down, but it also had a certain charm.
- Service: Because of the good reviews here, we wanted to have a bit of local food away from other tourists, but we didn't feel welcome at all. We were initially surprised that only cash payment was possible. When my companions came in with me so that I didn't have to eat alone (because I was the only one who had just enough cash), we were looked at strangely because my companions didn't order any food (drawn cash from the machine because it was our last one). day was not an option because otherwise you would have to exchange the dollars again and also have to pay the fee beforehand). The waitress seemed very rushed when bringing water and didn't look friendly. It seemed as if she wanted to get rid of us quickly. Even the other guests looked at us confused, as if tourists would never eat here or were even welcome.

This is a cozy, casual spot that clearly has a lot of locals coming in as well as visitors. Cash only, but very worth getting cash if you need to in order to go. I really liked the counters running throughout the place, which gives it a very communal feeling as you end up sitting next to other guests. The 2 servers for the whole restaurant were extremely efficient and took good care of everyone despite it being busy. The fried wontons for an appetizer were freshly fried and very tasty. I appreciated they actually arrived before dinner as an appetizer, which I've noticed restaurants lately struggle with. This was my first time trying saimin, but I'm a big ramen fan so it was right up my alley! The special saimin was very good; it was reminiscent of ramen for sure, but the ham and the wontons in it added an interesting twist. I wasn't a fan of the pork, but I don't usually like chasu in ramen either. My husband had the extra large size and it was a lot of food! The lilikoi chiffon pie was amazing! Super light and delicate in texture, both for the filling and the crust, and the lilikoi flavor was subtle but perfect. I would regularly go here if I lived on Kauai and if we weren't leaving tomorrow, I would certainly consider returning to eat here again during the same trip.

CASH ONLY. no Venmo, no debit. Better value comparing to Phở Kauai around the corner. Fast bowl of noodle soup and different unami but not tasty nor gourmet enough for higher rating. Honolulu has the best udon noodle thus far.

Don't judge a book by its cover! We were both blown away by how delicious both the broth and fresh noodles were.

This is a gem of a place that, yes, could use an update but also feels unique, nostalgic, and lived in. It has lots of history and personality.

Beware menu photos on Google are a little outdated (I forgot to take pics). TOURISTS BE SURE TO TIP so locals can keep up with the rising living costs!!

Food was delicious and priced fairly. Patrons are friendly. Portions are of good size and fulfilling. The BBQ skewers are tasty. And the lilikoi chiffon pie; let's just say they must had made it with sprinkles of angels wings because it's the lightest, fluffiest, angelic pie I have had the pleasure of eatting in many years.

Delicious saimin and broth in a cozy local counter setup. The oxtail saimin special was a treat (available only on Mondays and Fridays). My husband also liked the chicken sticks.

This place is a classic for local food! Great saimin, super old school diner, fast service, very generous portions of tasty saimin. My favorite is the wonton saimin, but to each their own.

(Visitors, please remember to tip generously if you are able, as the cost of living is very high for workers, and is driven up by housing turned into vacation rentals for tourists. You can help make this place sustainable for the people who live here by supporting local.)

Run by 3 little aunties. Very cute, delicious, cheap food for the amount they give you. Highly recommend XL Sumo Saimin. Will feed 2-3 people. Every time we’ve been, it has been very busy and we have had to wait at least 5 min to be seated. Out of everything, 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
