“Perfect meal for a lazy pool day. You order at the bar and they deliver the food to you at your lounge chair by the pool. We ordered a fish wrap and it was ok, the season fries were good! Definitely hit the spot. Service was good and they give out bubbles/lollipops/play doh to the kids.”

Use the free parking on the southside of the Sonesta, with a 1-minute walk to the beach!”

“We stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort and went to Shutters the first night to get a drink to have while walking on the beach. It was not high quality. I saw the "bartender" go to the cooler and grab a premixed "manhattan" in a glass and pour it into a plastic cup for us to go out to the beach area. My wife had a mai tai. I think that one was at least mixed when it was ordered. Mine tasted like it was - tired, a bit diluted, and clearly made long before I drank it. If that were the end of the story, I would be arguing about whether to do 2 or 3 stars, but the best part is what came next. We were wandering around in Hanapepe and ended up buying a fresh dragonfruit from a little store. When we came back, I went to the bar to see if they could give me a knife. I expected a plastic or maybe butter knife, but the busboy got me a steak knife, which was so much better. Next night, we had some left over poke and I asked for whether they had soy sauce, and the busser came back with packets for us to take to the room. The staff definitely went out of their way and I would give 5 stars for that, but I cannot ignore the bad drinks. Did not get to try the food.”

“Much better than expected, big pours of wine and surprisingly great burger with a mountain of fries as well. Bartender was friendly and enjoyed our conversation with him. Has a bigger seating area in back as well not sure why the ratings are so low but for us it was a great stop.”

“Located at the Outrigger hotel and adjacent to Kauai Beach Villas, this restaurant is convenient and very pleasant with indoor and outdoor seating. Breakfast was delicious with poached eggs, Canadian bacon, papaya and mimosa with many other selections. Dinner offerings cover every appetite, including a daily catch-of-the-day. Food is deliciously prepared from an abundant selection. Desserts are divine. Service is gracious and delivered with a smile.”

“11 out of 10... The coffee is great and organic, but the service is OUTSTANDING, AMAZING, and outright the BEST I have ever had. Seriously, everyone in here is so helpful, happy, and out going...even Beau, the owner, came out and talked with us for a while and shared their story, I feel like I could not be supporting a better place. If I were a local, I would be getting coffee ☕️ here everyday, it certainly made my day today. I will definitely go back to get some coffee and visit when I come back to the island of Kauai! I really wish this shop was in our hometown or had one that was even close to the good vibes this place has. It is hard to come by and spot this cool! Mahalo to Beau Jo & the crew! ?”

“Here’s what to order: Banana late + parmesan bagel with cheddar bacon cream cheese + macadamia nut banana bread.

My preferred ratio of bagel to cream cheese is 1 to 1 and they give you plenty and then some. Tons of bagel flavors and cream cheeses to choose from. Wish we had more time to try the gorgeous cinnamon rolls and other sweets.”

“Our family very recently vacationed in Kauai to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. I had reached out to Ko Bakery several weeks before our trip to have a cake made to surprise my parents. We chose the Haupia with Lime buttercream and also got a dozen cupcakes (yellow cake with chocolate buttercream) for the kiddos. The cake and cupcakes were AMAZING!!!! Their customer service is incredible (especially since we were communicating through email) and pick up was a breeze. I highly recommend Ko Bakery!!!”

“The first time we came was around 3 pm on Saturday and it was okay. We decided to go back and try again but went around 10 am and it was so much better. I recommend going early! Poke was good!”

“We love these waffles. A family favorite and we always recommend it to visitors. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. Must try the pog drizzle and coconut infused whipped cream with your waffles and fruit. Oh man! Like no other waffle you've ever had. Light and crispy. Delicious!”

“Smiley's was our first meal on our trip to Kauai, and what a perfect place to start! We ordered the katsu chicken, beef kalbi, and garlic butter shrimp. Everything was SO delicious. Honestly, some of the best shrimp I've ever had (FYI shrimp is peel 'n eat). We also LOVED the mac salad, and think it was the best we had on the island. Order extra when you go! I wish we would have been able to return during our trip! Service was so friendly, and the woman running the front counter (the owner's daughter; sorry! I didn't get her name) suggested where we could go to enjoy our food.”

My wife and I would consider ourselves ginger beer Connoisseur’s we have tried so many and we were so disappointed we could not take any home with us back to the mainland. But that is only because this product is so good! My wife really liked the pineapple flavor, the watermelon and we both enjoyed the regular ginger beer! Best I have ever had! Please let us know when you are able to ship to Arizona! We will be your first customer. I also let our hotel know that they need to sign a contract with you all to support local business and they should only be making their Moscow mules with aloha ginger beer! They need to call it the aloha mule! Cheers!”

“This is a cozy, casual spot that clearly has a lot of locals coming in as well as visitors. Cash only, but very worth getting cash if you need to in order to go. I really liked the counters running throughout the place, which gives it a very communal feeling as you end up sitting next to other guests. The 2 servers for the whole restaurant were extremely efficient and took good care of everyone despite it being busy. The fried wontons for an appetizer were freshly fried and very tasty. I appreciated they actually arrived before dinner as an appetizer, which I've noticed restaurants lately struggle with. This was my first time trying saimin, but I'm a big ramen fan so it was right up my alley!The special saimin was very good; it was reminiscent of ramen for sure, but the ham and the wontons in it added an interesting twist. I wasn't a fan of the pork, but I don't usually like chasu in ramen either. My husband had the extra large size and it was a lot of food! The lilikoi chiffon pie was amazing! Super light and delicate in texture, both for the filling and the crust, and the lilikoi flavor was subtle but perfect. I would regularly go here if I lived on Kauai and if we weren't leaving tomorrow, I would certainly consider returning to eat here again during the same trip.”

“We ate breakfast here, seven of us. Pictured are the fried rice with two eggs, stuffed French toast with banana, and loco Moco. We also ordered the spam musubi, two Puakea signature breakfasts, fruit cup, another stuffed French toast with blueberries and strawberries. Everything was fresh and hot and very delicious! The fried rice has eggs, bacon, Portuguese sausage, onion, green onion, peas. It was really way more than I normally eat but it was so good that I ate it all! We highly recommend eating here ?”

“Stopped into Costco last night upon landing in Kauai to stock up for the week. We were informed by the checker that the food court and bakery are closed for renovation. We were still able to stock up on treasures in other departments. I thought I would pass the information along so future travelers can plan accordingly.”

“Excellent local eatery specializing in plate lunches. Favorite entrees include pork adobo, various stews and curries, tempura and fried chicken. The Hawaiian plate with pork lau lau is also a standout. A friendly, family atmosphere with hard working employees.”

“I don’t usually leave reviews for chain restaurants but I have to say the two girls who help make the sandwiches were really great. We came in and ordered 7 foot longs and they were able to make them quickly and labeled all of them even down to the different sauces. Mahalo!”

My favorite breakfast spot in lihue!”
