“Our New Go-To on Kauai! We’ve found our gem. After frequenting Kauai for work, Sushi Blue Wave has become our absolute favorite dining destination on the island. The intimate ambiance sets the perfect tone for an exceptional meal, and the service is genuinely attentive without being intrusive. Our server, JP, made excellent recommendations and ensured every detail was just right. Now, onto the food … simply outstanding! The Truffle Edamame was an inspired start, elevated beyond the ordinary. We worked our way through several standout dishes: the Blue Wave Crunch Roll delivered on both texture and flavor, while the Dry-Aged Wasabi Truffle Salmon was a revelation. I agree with another reviewer: it was the best salmon dish I’ve ever eaten. The Lemon Bliss Roll provided a bright, refreshing contrast, and both the scallop sashimi and sea urchin were pristine examples of how fresh, quality ingredients need little embellishment. What impressed us most was the consistency across every dish. The fish was impeccably fresh, and the rice in each roll was perfectly seasoned and proportioned … never overwhelming the delicate flavors of the fish, but providing the ideal foundation. It’s clear the chef understands balance. We are planning to be back this evening and on our next trip to Kauai. And the one after that! Sushi Blue Wave has earned a permanent spot on our dining itinerary.”

“Wife and I stumbled into this spot inside a bar and had no idea what to expect. We make it a point to try burgers everywhere we travel, and we’ve covered just about everything back home, so we know a good one when we see it. Smitty’s delivered.

Burger was cooked right, great flavor, and didn’t fall apart halfway through. The cook, who may have been Smitty himself, was super chill and actually took the time to talk through how he does his burgers without acting bothered.

30 minute drive from our hotel and easily worth it. This one stands out.

“We are Marriott Owners and stayed on property to enjoy the Royal Sonesta amenities. Kukui's bar opened up after their beautiful remodel.while we were there. I shared my thoughts with Anthony, who was the manager on site. Christmas Day was crazy busy and the staff kicked butt and did a fantastic job. Boy, were they hustling and still kept their composure and professionalism! The menu has been refreshed and had many great healthy options. The prices are standard for this type of higher end property. The breakfast menu offered many options and all that we tasted were beautifully plated and very delicious! Yes, there were hiccups, which is expected, but the staff did the best they could. I'm not going to mention what needed to be improved on yet. So many flights were canceled or delayed due to Kona storms and she rocked it!!! 12…15…18 tables? She got us everything we needed and kept us all comfortable while directing so many! Beau was absolutely incredible. He remembered us, welcomed us with so much kindness, and has one of the most genuine, generous souls. You can tell he truly cares about the people who walk through the door, and that kind of hospitality is rare.

The food was delicious, and my husband said it was the best bagel he had on the island, which is a pretty big statement! But what makes Rainbeau Jo’s stand out even more is the people. The staff brings a level of excitement, love, and positivity that I have honestly never experienced anywhere else. The hype is real, and it is completely deserved.

If you’re on Kauai, do yourself a favor and stop here. You’ll leave with a full belly and a full heart. 🌈”

“Our family very recently vacationed in Kauai to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. I had reached out to Ko Bakery several weeks before our trip to have a cake made to surprise my parents. We chose the Haupia with Lime buttercream and also got a dozen cupcakes (yellow cake with chocolate buttercream) for the kiddos. The cake and cupcakes were AMAZING!!!! Their customer service is incredible (especially since we were communicating through email) and pick up was a breeze. I highly recommend Ko Bakery!!!”

“Charming coffee and bakery in Kauai just off the beach located in the Anchor Cove shopping center. Very pleasant staff with a view of the ocean and beach from the cafe.
The coffee is very strong but very good; no refills as is expected with a well stocked condiment counter. This cafe is regularly busy but has plenty of seating as many take to go or just stay there a short period.
Expect to spend >$5 for a large coffee but well worth it for the view, vibe and taste.
There is wifi available as well for those who wish to surf the web.”

“Cute coffee shot in Lihue on Kauai in Hawaii just near the beach. On a bus route and within walking distance to the beach with plenty of parking for those with vehicles.
Very small venue inside (with air conditioning but no seating inside. There are plenty of outside picnic tables just outside in the front of the shop (unfortunately not with ocean views). Coffee stand with sugar and sugar substitutes aplenty with naples and cutlery. For those who want cream/milk simply ask for it at the counter and it is available upon request for you to pour.
The coffee was bold tasting and flavorful. Reasonably priced for a 16oz large at $3.50 (no refills).
There is no wifi available for use (which for me reduced it from 5 to 4 stars on atmosphere as I believe coffee shops should have wifi available for paying guests. Still a great spot and venue for a fresh cup of coffee and plenty of food choices as well.
Pictures show the menu, inside of coffee shot, tables and parking (among other things). Definitely recommend this place.”

“Kawaii Kokoro Patisserie is absolutely amazing! Everything is delicious, but the cheesecakes—especially the Japanese cheesecake—are a standout. It’s so light and perfectly balanced, not too sweet. The profiteroles are incredible, and it’s impossible to pick a favorite flavor. Some of my other favorites include the lilikoi mousse cups, crème brûlée (both vanilla and Kona coffee—so good!), arare cookies, manju, and my newest obsession, the panna cotta! They also offer scones and a variety of cookies, all made with high-quality ingredients. We ordered ahead, and everything was beautifully packaged and ready when we arrived. The service was fantastic, and the owners and staff are genuinely kind and welcoming. If you’re looking for delicious, high-quality pastries and desserts, this place is a must-visit!”

Apart from Americano and cappuccino, we also ate Blueberry muffin, butter croissant and chocolate scone. All of them were delicious.
We loved it so much that we ended up buying a bag of beans for our home when we were leaving from Kauai.

I got the bbq mixed plate, garlic mahi-mahi and Taro boba drink on Friday then had a Hawaiian plate, bbq mixed plate, dumplings and Lychee Boba drink this Tuesday all of which were excellent with very nice people operating this food truck. There are so many food trucks in this island but these guys are the best in my limited experience all for very little money.”

“My friend and I had just spent time with our families on the Kauai Plantation Railway and we decided to head over to the lounge for an adult beverage. We both had Mai Tais and they were really very good. Our bartender was great and took good care of us. The lounge was cool because it feels like you stepped back in time. Once our families caught up to us we moved to the outside patio which has a little more of a modern feel which opened up to an open grassy area where the kids ran around and played. The Mai Tais were so good that we came back two days later for round 2. If you want a great Mai Tai and a nice spot to chill and relax, this is your spot.”

“We were on island and craving noodles, asked around to find a more authentic hole-in-the-wall /grandma's kitchen type place, and this is it. No fuss, family kitchen counter style seating, cash only, limited menu (as in these are always the favorites, so don't fuss with the rest), and the quality is high. Between everyone in our group , we essentially sampled every dish on the menu and dessert, and everything was great. Glad we found this place by recommendation, and hope to guide more people to it.”

I happened upon this quaint, friendly and fast place by accident. Located next to Inkspot, people drive by for a really quick and onolicious pickup. They offer 3 simple bentos that offer a quick but wide variety of food. Drop by to get your quick fix to start your day. They open at 6am. D, one of the owners was really informative and helpful. And the food offerings is what attracts your eye at their prices. Not overly huge but very reasonable and economical portions in these trying times. A nice niche option just minutes from anywhere in town and the airport. Onolicious! 😉🤙✌️”

“Me and my boyfriend went here for lunch. I ordered fried wontons and orange chicken. This place gave off major mom and pop vibes, and we loved the humble aspect to it. We received very big portion sizes for what we paid for, and the food came out less than five minutes after we ordered it! The place was mostly empty so the waitress was super quick to refill water, bring us the bill, and to-go boxes.
Everything was very yummy!”

The staff was fast and friendly, and it is a super easy place to grab a cheap, filling meal when you do not have a lot of time to sit down.”

“I tried the Filipino cuisine for the first time. They had the shop setup next to Walmart. Tried their chicken and pork skewers. They were juicy and meat was soft, fresh.

“Got to try during their soft opening. Didn’t really feel like a soft opening cause Adrian the server was outstanding, clearly no kinks to work out. Attentive, friendly, good recommendations, great with kids. The setting is set back by the pool area overlooking lush landscaping and the pool and waterfall. The crab crusted fish (Ono today) and the shrimp / pork “pillows” (think wonton gyozas) were highly recommended and solid but the runaway star was actually the seafood chowder. Solid chunks of all kinds of seafood and excellent flavor. I’d go back for that alone. The udon came with 5 large shrimp also, solid portion. The sauce on the ono and gyoza were both bold and interesting. The ono sauce was almost bisque like. A couple creative deserts also. They do a limited pineapple upside down which takes time as it’s prepared fresh. We opted for the Halo Halo (a Filipino speciality done very well here) and the Chocolate Granache bar which came with 2 bars instead of the normal one. Great for sharing. Very much enjoyed the Halo Halo also with the panna cotta, red bean and a killer Mac nut brittle.

Would return for the soup alone, but great service, comfortable environment and some other interesting choices all make it worth a glance. They seem good with families also, saw lots of kids in there.”
