It was a pleasant surprise as we had never been to that part of Kauai before. Our waitress was delightful. She forgot to ask what we wanted for dessert but we're glad we told her we wanted the Ube cheesecake. Simply delightful.
This place was so worth it only because of our server Petronela! She was so sweet and so positive made our experience great! Would come back only to say hi to her! Visit this restaurant and ask for her you will laugh your whole dinner with a good time!
It was good. But expensive. So they either need to go cheaper or lower the prices. Or both. Food was good. Service was also good. Just too expensive for what you get.
Great location next to pool with really good breakfast options for adults and kids. We really enjoyed the French Toast!
Great, relaxing restaurant. The service is impeccable. The food is very good. I loved the red sauce pasta dish (can't recall the name). We also came here for breakfast and we loved the classic breakfast that came with eggs, bacon, roasted potatoes AND “silver dollar” pancakes that were so buttery and melted in my mouth! Delicious and relaxing experience! We can't wait to come back.
Convenient when staying at the hotel and food is fine. Servers are friendly but understaffed so it's very slow. Quite expensive for the quality of the meal that was just average.
Food is good, not great. But the staff is overwhelmingly bad. Ate here 5 times during my stay out of convenience, in such short interactions, had 5 poor experiences with staff. Inappropriate comments on wife’s pregnancy, closing lunch 15 minutes before said time, allowing kids to run around the restaurant at full speed and then KILL a baby chicken in their attempt to catch it, staff then left the dead baby in front of our table for 30 minutes before our server picked it up with bare hands and put it on a dining plate.
Lastly, what I hope wasn’t their manager came to the empty host stand after 5 minutes, apparently there’s an invisible line between the pool bar (in the middle of the restaurant) where you don’t have to have a shirt and the restaurant where you need a shirt over your swimsuit. That’s not a problem and makes some sense, but the server coped an attitude that I didn’t know this immediately and refused to seat my pregnant wife while I went to grab a shirt from my room. Like actually angry and rolling his eyes??? Then I insisted he seat her. As he did I stepped two steps into the restaurants invisible line to tell my wife what to order while I was gone to get my shirt, server then proceeded to raise his voice and yell about me not have my shirt. So I tossed the menu gently onto the table and walked away to not hurt this man’s fragile feelings. Because this coward child of a man was upset I didn’t gently lay the menu down… HE CALLED SECURITY and removed the plates from the table??? Then made my pregnant wife leave. Keep in mind there are probably 10 men at the bar without shirts on, and 30 laying out in chair just a few feet outside the restaurant. Just insane that all these things happened consecutive times. Food is good, but overpriced. Go here as a last resort
Ate at the bar two times...lunch and dinner. Very good!! Ate at Kukui's for dinner. Reserved dinner at Open Table. Dinner was fabulous and dessert was too. Waitress was sweet as could be! ! Would definitely recommend!!
Atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing. Food was awesome and extremely fresh. The dish we enjoyed the most was the Maui Onion soup. It was a slow night so we can’t speak for the service on a busy night, but we had no complaints! Our hostess and server were super friendly.
The Mother's Day brunch was wonderful. The prime rib was perfectly cooked. The bao buns with crispy pork belly was a stand out.

The best Mothers Day buffet we have had in a long time. The renovated restaurant allows the natural breeze to flow through. The adjustable pergola is a nice addition. Chef really tapped into the local flavors with the Ube Bibinka, Poi shooter, and the best fried rice I have ever had. Made me a fried rice omelette! Mahalo keeping it local!
I’ve eaten at Kukui’s for the past three days and overall, it’s been great. Gayleen was an awesome server—super kind, attentive, and had great energy. The food’s solid, and the açaí bowl is especially good—more frozen, which I liked.
That said, the $8 orange juice was disappointing. The glass is tiny (smaller than my hand, as shown in the photo), and there are no refills. For that price, it feels like a rip-off—especially for families with kids. If you’re going to charge that much, at least make the glass the size of the water glass. Even then, it’s hard to justify.
Just something to be aware of. Everything else was great, but that detail really stood out.
We had breakfast at the restaurant two mornings. The location is beautiful, overlooking the pool with views of the beach. The service was very good the first day, so-so the second day. The food was great the first day - really wonderful. The second day was ok. We recommend the eggs benedict and the egg sandwich. We do not recommend the bagel with lox and cream cheese. We definitely recommend eating here.
This was an Easter brunch event. Wife and I had been here before. Cost $$$ for buffet was very high for buffet entrees: prime rib, steamed fish, and seafood paella. Breakfast menu included: Scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and fried rice with only bacon garnishing added; hotcakes /french toast , banana nut muffins and mini pastry selection, and fresh fruits. Lunch dessert selection was excellent : strawberry cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, tiramisu cake, mini cupcakes and easter sugar cookies. Overall food selection was great. Table service was attended well for beverages and condiments by wait staff.
The best burger i have ever had. Get the Wagyu burger.
