Smiley's was our first meal on our trip to Kauai, and what a perfect place to start! We ordered the katsu chicken, beef kalbi, and garlic butter shrimp. Everything was SO delicious. Honestly, some of the best shrimp I've ever had (FYI shrimp is peel 'n eat). We also LOVED the mac salad, and think it was the best we had on the island. Order extra when you go! I wish we would have been able to return during our trip! Service was so friendly, and the woman running the front counter (the owner's daughter; sorry! I didn't get her name) suggested where we could go to enjoy our food.

I got the Kalbi ribs and there was barely any meat on one of my ribs. Food was decent, but feel like I got the short end of a deal.

Simple order take out place serving really good Hawaiian food. Gets busy at times. Garlic shrimp is is 8/10, headless shell on. You get around 8 shrimps drenched in butter and garlic. Kalib ribs is another good choice (8.5/10). Small portion (3 ribs).

We discovered this place when we first came here many years ago and now is the 3rd time.. very close to the Marriott resort. No nonsense take out at reasonable price and hits the spot!

The food is very tasty! The person at the window wasn't pleasant so we didn't go back. Their pastries are also tasty, I got the ube cheesecake.
Will instantly be our first stop after the airport from now on. Luckily found Smiley’s after our first choice in the area was randomly closed.
This place is the real deal. Reasonably priced, large portions, huge variety of dishes that are sure to please everyone in your party.
Tons of locals coming up (they were smart and ordered ahead, but the wait really wasn’t too bad) and politely asking us mainlanders how we heard about Smiley’s and telling us what to try for next time.
Cashier was polite and patient with explaining the various dishes and even took the time to suggest where we should head to enjoy our meal as it’s strictly to go.
If you’re (like we were) frantically searching for a place that’s open a bit later (8pm and closed Sunday), but you want to make the most out of every meal during your limited time on Kauai or else, stop searching and head here now.
Safe bet of burgers and fries available for the kids if they’re picky.
Kalbi ribs and garlic shrimp were top notch and we were really glad we were talked into trying the Smileys chicken garlic chili style.
Kid-friendliness: Burger and fries available with a few couples with kids ordering the teriyaki dishes.
Killer food. Take away only. Loco moco stands out along with lomi salmon, chicken long rice, Mac salad, and chili chicken. If you in the area, I say this is a must try place.

Grabbed teriyaki chicken on the way to the airport. Friendly staff and they got my order done quicker than they said which was awesome because I didn’t have much time to spare before flight. Tasty chicken and Mac salad! Definitely will order again when on island.

The food was delicious and the price while not cheap was acceptable for Kauai. The biggest draw back was a 50 minute wait for the food after ordering. This wasn’t acceptable for a take out with no dining area or place to sit.
BEST FOOD IN KAUAI! Found it on our last day on the island… I’d fly back just to eat there!
