Smiley’s was recommended to us by our zip line guides as a local favorite for plate lunch. The food was really good. Service was good but be prepared to wait since they’re busy. There is no dining in so everything is to go.

My husband and I came here for lunch on our last day on the Island. We knew we were in for a treat when there was a line of locals, and we could see orders stacked up behind the window. We both got the combination teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef. The beef was so tender; the chicken was moist but had a wonderful char on it. The Mac salad was a great side to cut the saltiness of the teriyaki, and the sticky rice was amazing!

Its a takeout restaurant with no seating. I ordered the beef stew special and the meat and veggies were tough. Others in my group had better food. They ordered the Loco Moco, Pork Lau Lau and Smileys chicken.

Got the mixed plate with some beef short ribs side on recommendation from the cashier just to try as much as possible. Exactly what I was looking for. Just great comfort food all around. Stuffed and couldn't be happier.

Smiley's was our first meal on our trip to Kauai, and what a perfect place to start! We ordered the katsu chicken, beef kalbi, and garlic butter shrimp. Everything was SO delicious. Honestly, some of the best shrimp I've ever had (FYI shrimp is peel 'n eat). We also LOVED the mac salad, and think it was the best we had on the island. Order extra when you go! I wish we would have been able to return during our trip! Service was so friendly, and the woman running the front counter (the owner's daughter; sorry! I didn't get her name) suggested where we could go to enjoy our food.
