Visiting from Oregon, stopped by here to get something to eat. Figured because we’re Hispanic, to try this place.
I will admit, we judged at first. But the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” really applied here.
The food we ordered, looked amazing, tasted amazing, staff was friendly and service was excellent.
Plus the dessert - Ube Churro Fries - AMAZING.
Plus the server Wai amazing server.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE🔥🔥💯

Good and creative Mexican food. Loved both Mahimahi and garlic shrimp tacos with Furikake and Ulu tortillas!
Casual atmosphere conveniently close to Costco. The service is nice and friendly, too!

The food is good not great, but that’s been our experience at most of the places we’ve tried on the island. Major word of caution if you are gluten free, even though the menu is marked does NOT mean the item is gluten free. I ordered the tostado, marked gluten free on the menu, and was suspicious so I confirmed with the waiter if all the meat choices listed are gf and he said only the chicken is.. I did tell them they need to be careful about labeling things gf and not specifying; really easy way to hurt someone. That said, it was good.

Still awful after all these years. The only redeeming value was nice service. Just skip this it's ridiculous.

The vegan tacos are just veggie tacos and had no flavor to them. Rice and beans cost extra and chips is expensive. Updated from previous review on 2025-06-28
Everything was on point, definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food! Have to try the stacked enchiladas w/ shredded beef and mahi-mahi furikake tacos👌🏽 can’t forget the I’ve churros so ono!!

We went for lunch with our two vegetarian nieces and us vegan. My wife and I shared the vegan tacos and a vegetarian (made vegan) burrito. It was great. They also have vegan dessert. The habanero salsa was authentically spicy.
Lots of good options for vegetarians on the modern Mexican menu
Went there on way to the airport. Food was really good and we had great service. Would recommend.

The vegetarian burrito was fantastic, their green salsa was so good! Husband tried the fish burrito and loved that too! We even packed food for our hike and took it. Service was great and quick.

Never again! We visited here today(25MAY2025 @1220). We sat down, and water immediately brought out. After 15 minutes of waiting, no one came to take our order. Many other tables sat after us, and we watched as their orders were taken. The restaurant wasn't nearly as full when we first sat down as to when we left. For me, this is inexcusable, especially if you are in the service industry and rely on gratuity to be able to pay bills. It was unbelievable to us that we were unable to receive any service other than waters and menus. We will definitely be taking this restaurant off of our list to visit whenever we are in Lihue. It is located in the Hokulei Shopping Village, right off of Kaumualii Highway. It's ok, though, because now we're at Tip Tip Cafe, it's been only 5 minutes since we sat down, and I already have a huge bowl of ox tail soup on front of me.
