Hello, I am writing this due to the service I have received today at the Safeway at Kapahulu location at 10:45 PM on October 19,2020. I was trying to buying a gift card and tried to pay with apple pay. What is the point of you guys taking apple pay if I have to have the physical card with me? The whole purpose of apple pay is so that we input our credit card information on our iphone so we don’t have to carry the physical card with us. With the updated technology and version of the apple iphone we are already inputting all of our personal information. They asked to see my ID which I showed them. Do you realize what apple pay is and how it works??? Also, it doesn’t even make sense, apple pay is only used by the owner of the card because without face ID it won’t run on the credit card. The lady’s name is Donna who apparently was the manager of the night. I just feel there is some lacking of common sense here. I am a loyal customer and I’m always receiving different service. I buy gift cards very often. On some days using apple pay is no big deal. Some days you guys won’t take it. Seems to me that everyone is on different pages. If you’re not going to accept apple pay without the physical card then there is not point of any individual having apple pay.
Enforce Social Distancing and enforce safe shopping protocols! I went grocery shopping first time this morning, Sunday, 5/24/20 and No one was following arrows. Even your employees were walking up right next to people. I won't be coming back.
The employees almost fill like family to me. Many of them are; because I know they are brothers and sister in Christ. They hard workers g and dedicate to make sure we get the deals they we may not even be aware of. There was once they forgot to use one of my coupons so when I came back the next time I got my money back. It’s always nice to see everyone there; and when one has been missing for awhile due to an injury then it makes me sad. They truly are great workers.
Best food shopping. Great prices. The deli has lots of prepared foods and you can eat there at tables before doing your shopping.
Stocked up on things for the fridge on my room, like poke, creamer, yogurt. But also a great selection of local coffee, chocolates, Spam and other unique specialties. Good prices.
I have enjoyed a number of fantastic deli meats from this Safeway. Peppered turkey, pastrami turkey, pastrami, mortadella, soppressata for the meats and imported Swiss cheese, NY extra sharp white cheddar for cheese. It is really hard to find quality deli products here in Oahu but they really got it going on here.
Salad bar is perfect for those who want a healthy meal. Also a sushi bar, sandwich bar and everything else to your heart’s desire. Everything is fresh and a great selection.
I've been going to Safeway Kapahulu for a couple years now, but never thought I should do a review on the deli til now. I love the deli on Saturday mornings. I go in for a breakfast sandwich and while standing in line, I get to hear the very cheerful and courteous "Kolohe" who makes the morning sandwiches. She treats each customer with the best of service and always with a smile. I don't know how she does it because I think they all work long shifts. Nevertheless, the made to order sandwiches beat out Subway any day. The deli also has a soup bar and an olive bar (very reasonable).
Hot food. Cold dishes. Sushi. Sandwiches. Cheeses. Olives. On and on and on. Desserts. Buy to go home or to work. Or buy to picnic at the park or beach. Choices - something for everyone's appetite.
Once again, did not eat at the deli, but stopped by this Kapahulu location to pick up some large bottles of water, soda, and a bunch of bananas for my hotel room mini-refrigerator (which had ample capacity for everything this time). My mainland Safeway card still was useful for in-store sale prices. In retrospect, I should have shopped here AFTER going to Leonard's bakery, then caught TheBus back to Waikiki... Would have saved me some awkward juggling of grocery bags going between both locations (and bring your own reusable shopping bags too).

Wether You are looking for breakfast items or lunch/dinner... I have been able to satisfy my cravings at each visit. Great variety...
I love their salads but their cold cut selection is lacking some classics. I went to get prosciutto and they didnt have any. Then I wanted black forest ham and it looked like it had been around for far too long.
