Picked up sandwiches for home. Met the Owner, very nice and personable while waiting for my order. I learned that he makes his own Bahn mi baguettes every morning at 4am. They are super crispy and light. We frequent this place every 2 weeks. Also had the fresh spring rolls…delicious. Eat and support local!
This is the second location for Van Vietnamese. It is simple restaurant with several tables in the older area of Pahoa. Parking is right in front. The service was fast and the staff friendly. The selection was good. We enjoyed the spring rolls and the peanut sauce was excellent. The Vietnamese coffee was very good. We all order Pho. The noodles and meat was very good. They are generous with basil and sprouts. The beef broth is made fresh on site, it was good but would have like...
It was really quick, the spring rolls were freshly wrapped and, like the sandwich, were super tasty and crunchy. Also very friendly service. Price-performance is great!
Vegetarian options: All dishes can also be made with tofu instead of meat. Especially compared to many other local restaurants, where almost everything apart from the side dishes often contains meat, it's quite good.
