Not open April 27-29, 2021 when we were staying in Paia. It was going to be our "go to" place! Not sure if they plan to reopen later or not, but no visible signs of re opening.
As someone who grew up in Los Angels, I miss the Roxy, Whiskey, Troubadour music scene. I always thought of Charlie's as the "ROXY" of Maui. John I couldn't begin to Express how tragic it has been to see all these great icons of maui fall victim to the Covid area. Unfortunately it appears we have no vaccine to save some of the best Maui had to offer with all the little local goto's we came to know and love. My fear is all we end up with is a island full of Starbucks, Panda Express, subways, and other Corporate giants to fill the void. It's not that their is anything wrong with them, but who wants to travel 2000 miles away only to question whether or not they ever really left home.So I raise a glass to the Charlie's, Rock n brews, and Da Kitchens of your home towns. Here's to the originals. Here's to your identity.
2/12/21. We called Charley’s and the recording said they were open. The website said they were open. We came today for their awesome pancakes from 40 minutes away and they ARE CLOSED TIGHTER THAN DRUM. Just wish the owner would publish that information everywhere so we hadn’t wasted so much time driving for no reason.
Dont now didn't eat there or go there
CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!
The breakfast food was very good, but it seemed a little dirty - like our table and def the bathroom. Also, it kinda smelt weird, but our waitress was very friendly and the food came out fast.
When we were in Hawaii, we had the pleasure of having a fantastic breakfast at Charley’s Restaurant & Saloon. Just looking at all the musical memorabilia and the colorful paintings was a trip! And we kind of expected to see Willie Nelson walk un( he didn’t) but even without any celebrity sightings, it was definitely worth it!
Great food. Friendly staff. It was really cool to checkout all the Willie Nelson pictures and tribute items. We visited with the on site artist and he is a talented and friendly man!
Really good food and atmosphere. Lots of cool memorabilia from early Rock stars on the walls. Seating and dining area open to nice breeze. Music during nights and weekends. Highly recommend for Hawaiian style grub.
Good lunch after the great nearby beach. Great service. Check the painting on the wall by a local artist of all the celebs that have been there. Yogi Berra, Joe Torre, Willie Nelson, Oprah, Michelle, and many more. Very impressive. Even saw some of the surfers who had been at the beach.
Restaurantji Recommends
Fantastic service! Our waiter was great and attentive, relaxed atmosphere, we would go again for sure. I ordered a vegetarian plate I do not see it on the menu on website, it was perfect!!!!! This dish is gluten free, they have gluten free buns, they do not have gluten free pizza.
Great 50 year old restaurant, bar and entertainment place. It's 50 years old. Willie Nelson is one of the founders and one of the first musicians to play there. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. It's on Maui in the city of Paia. Paia is an old sugar mill town. Today it's very eclectic old Hawiian style. I highly recommend a visit or even stay a few nights. Nothing fancy.
Town is quaint and this restaurant doesn’t look like much. It packs a punch. Great atmosphere and good food. The service was excellent.
Great spot, good food very friendly staff fair prices for the area. The blackened ahi wrap was excellent. My brother in law asked if he could get chili cheese fries which was not on the menu and they were happy to oblige. Lots of very cool merobilia if you are a music buff.
Great fish and chips. Loved the atmosphere
