New owners. They were kind but had no idea what they were doing. We went there for Anniversary because the old Vana used to be amazing. We got there at 605P still waiting for our food at 740p! Pity this isn't as good as it used to be
We came to this sushi restaurant to have sushi. After we were seated they tell us there's no sushi tonight. What?!?!? We didn't walk out and tried to make the best of it. Service and ambience was great. The food was ok that we had but we had come for sushi so there was already a lot of disappointment. Wouldn't come back until sushi returns.
Went for Sushi, but apparently something happened and there was no sushi when we went. Very disappointing and we had to order off a very truncated menu from what they show as their menu online. If we had seen the menu we could order from before we left we would have gone somewhere else
Parking nearby not on restaurant property. Walk down a narrow hallway to a dark dining room at the back. Menu that evening was small and restricted. Prices definitely on the high side for sashimi Waitress got orders wrong twice; she was asked whether a particular order was spicy and she replied “no”, yet it was spicy when we tasted it. Wait for food seemed long. Didn't use the washrooms so I cannot comment on the washrooms.
We were very disappointed. Not only were they out of some of their main dishes but the Happy Hour menu that was displayed on the entry table wasn't current. We were the first reservation at 5:00 and we almost left when we were told the lamb chops and NY strip were unavailable along with the Brussels sprouts. We ordered 2 drinks and 2 sushi rolls which were decent but not worth $150 with tip. We won't be back.
Where to start...Well in my experience in these styles of Japanese inspired cuisines the service means everything. The staff was very nice but they really weren't great at service....sorry missed the mark there.First, the table setting outside was so close and small no place to put your things if you need...maybe that doesn't matter to most but with the table being so small and the dish size being large the table space, we needed wasn't happening.Second the menu I got was old and my husband got the new one.... with higher end pricing that's not a great idea to still be using old menus.Okay so the food....as a sushi lover and have traveled to eat good sushi...it was just okay... for a roll to cost 38.00 I expect more than okay... I honestly was super disappointed in that aspect like....it wasn't really special so why was I paying for a spoofed up trendy restaurant atmosphere. The Brussels were overpowered with a very mediocre sauce and said it came with pork belly but that wasn't the case. The 10.00 small bowl of miso soup I could buy better at a local ramen bar.Overall I wouldn't recommend the food. The resturant is obviously a hype and I'm sure the bar is a great reason why....for drinks I can see this being a quiet, yet sophisticated spot to have some drinks....especially outside. But save your money for Umi in kahului or Morimoto.Aloha!

Unfortunately our experience was not as good as what we previously experienced. The food came out at all different times, our soup came out after our entree and one of the people in our party was going to receive his entree after the rest oh us were finished. Management needs to get their act together.
What a lovely gem in Paia. Great location and very warm and inviting. Services was really good and very friendly. The sushi was really tasty, my husband had that and me as a vegetarian had the Blackend Tofu. I realize food is pricey in Maui however charging the same for the tofu dish as fresh fish was a bit much. But it was and excellent dish.
Beautiful restaurant, the vibes at vana are always cool and fun, great music, nice outdoor atmosphere and different areas to hideaway like their bar nestled in the back of the restaurant. sitting with olivia and nicolai is always fun. the cocktails are always the best part of the menu for me. they have lots of nice hot plates and salad options for people who dont like sushi, but for me the sushi is the best here, go for sashimi and nigiri. they always have great fish and sushi specialties. their sushi chefs are always kind and skilled in their craft here. try their black sesame cake and their town and country mezcal drink.

Food is decent but my roll tasted premade and like it was in a cooler which is a no no lol, they brought out my entree before my drinks and appetizers even came out like what? The service was okay expected more for Valentine’s Day but I’m still in Maui so there’s that just stick to the mom and pop stores in the vicinity much better service and fresh food. Great if you just want some drinks just no on the food.

Vana created a special atmosphere perfect for Valentines Day. The dumplings were light and flavorful. Sushi rolls presented an amazing variety and fabulous combination of flavors. The dragon roll (the special) was particularly memorable. Mahalo!
We normally sit in the patio but this visit we were in the new front facing seating area. the ambience is ok but is a bit sterile when compared with the outdoor patio seating. Our food was good, but not to the same level of great taste we have had in the past.. our order of the miso cod never appeared so we cancelled it, and left the restaurant disappointed by our experience. It seems like the menu has changed, and the flavors that we enjoyed in past visits has suffered.
The overall lack of professionalism (and care) exhibited by the hostess, wait staff, and bus staff was inexcusable. It was incongruent and incompatible with the quality of the food and the romantic ambience/vibe of the restaurant, in general. This is the primary reason we will not be returning nor recommending the restaurant to others.
