“Absolutely the most delicious Mochi and other Japanese confections. These ladies have been a mainstay in Hilo and whenever we are in Hawaii, (even Kona) we will make the drive to Hilo just for their desserts.“

“Mahalo nui au i nā wāhine o ka Papa'a Palaoa Bakery ma Hilo, Hawai'i. They assisted me in providing a whole lilikoi pie to bring home to San Francisco. They fully wrapped the box in plastic to keep the pie protected, so I could then place it in an insulated bag and surround the box with frozen ice packs. The pie (as well as a cinnamon roll) made it back home just as "hou" (fresh) as when I purchased it, me ka pilikia ole (with no problems), and the pie tastes 'ono loa. I am very grateful for their assistance, and especially their kindness. I highly recommend this bakery to everyone who wants fresh baked goods, but most of all, I am very grateful to the Aloha given by their employees. Mahalo nui loa!!“

“My husband and I shared:
- Turkey, Cranberry, and Cream Cheese Popover Sandwich
- Pastrami Popover Sandwich
- Ube Donut
- Lilikoi Butter Mochi
Both sandwiches were fantastic. I love popovers and it's such a great idea to turn them into a sandwich. I think I had a slight preference for the turkey one, but you can't go wrong with either.
The desserts were a little disappointing. The donut was dry and the butter mochi was just ok.
If you're in Hilo, come here for lunch!“
“There will probably always be a line because it's soo good and they sell out fast enough. Totally worth waiting tho and will be back! There's a reason there's so many loyal costumers and I hope they don't change a thing
Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegan options and gluten free even!“

“We stopped by the booth at the Friday night market in Hilo. We tried the pecan sandies cookies, the decadent chocolate cupcakes, the Mexican brownies and the carrot cake cupcakes and omg they were all delicious! More than ample sizes for the price as well. I’ve found a great place for my sweet cravings!“
“Several choices of delicious, fluffy bread, as well as butter mochi, and rice cake! Would recommend their Ube Hawaiian Rolls. Super cheap for the quality and taste.Surprised how few reviews this place has. I also saw them at the Maku'u Farmer's Market and I believe they attend other markets.Would consider this a hidden gem and highly recommend visiting!“

“Shortbread cookies are so delicious. So many flavors. My favorite is the Mauna Kea Shortbread cookie. They also have super affordable local plates, breakfast all day, and they sell homemade breads. The inside eating area has been closed since covid but you can still order take out.“

“Wonderful experience! We did the Tuesday afternoon tour and learned about the history of baumkuchen and some other fun history in an engaging presentation. If you want to see the baking in action, it doesn't happen during the tour time; instead, the tour focuses on an intro/discussion, a short guided tour around the beautifully landscaped property, and then a final wrap-up at the gift shop. Friendly people, tasty products. They also sell culinary salts; the green one is delicious. Bring bug spray if the mosquitoes like you. We loved this visit. Thanks so much!“
