I'm rather disappointed. I don't know if it's because it's the weekend or because we are hungry, but the food here didn't hit the spot at all. The steak was overcooked, dry and grey. Shrimp undercooked and not at all like a "local shrimp lunch plate". Garlic Fries was limpy and tasteless.... I thought I was in a real bad dream. For the price of $17-$21 a plate I would've expected more than eating food that really tasted and looked like leftovers. I'm really bummed because I love Foodland Foods, poke is ono, fried chicken is the bomb, and to have this come out of there is a real disappointment. Please make fresh food, instead of serving food that has been sitting on a heater for the entire morning... my tummy is sad. Am I willing to try again??? I dunno.... If I do try again, it'll only be because it has the Foodland name backing them. :0/

Steak was very ONO. I ordered mine with the garlic butter sauce. Service was fast. Will definitely go again. One thing, they need to advertise that they are located inside the Foodland store. Only had address.

No pictures because I ate it all and didn't care to share what it looked like lol perfectly cooked steak with melt in your mouth garlic herb butter. Ordered 1/2lb, ($15 & some change for that weight) and got it fresh off the grill (griddle?) not a warmer. Plate lunch option also available. Service was great, very friendly and professional. Tucked away in the corner of Foodland Farms PC, this is definitely a place worth trying!

Decided to try here for lunch...try something different, plus I was hungry after grocery shopping. HI Steaks is located inside the Pearl City Foodland, so I found it to be very convenient. The kitchen can easily be seen from the counter and the kitchen looked organized and clean. I ended up ordering a Kalua Pork & Steak plate ($18.99) and substituted the rice for greens (+$1.99), also ordered a build your own bowl ($16.00), with Garlic Chicken. I was a bit bummed that they charged extra for substituting the rice with greens, but oh well. My order came quickly, only waited for a couple of minutes, and then I found an open table at the dining area adjacent to HI Steaks. The portion size of the plate & bowl was reasonable for the price. Steak was good, tender and cooked perfectly for me. Garlic chicken was seasoned well, not too overpowering. The sides were all good too. Overall I really enjoyed the food and would definitely come here again!

Their steak fried rice...is not fried like it should its white rice with some kind of teriyaki sauce I think and no steak in it I know becausewhen I got it you could see the white rice ...better off just getting your food with the white rice it comes with not worth the almost $4 extra for it. Their sides...yea no not good at all. They got rid of the ONLY GOOD THING in their menu which was the chicken katsu sandwich...that was literally AMAZING. but they no longer have it (although its in their menu still) they've discontinued it...go somewhere else. Also, do not go late in the evening...you get hard and old food.

HI steaks is overpriced and the food is not as good as it sounds. The steaks was so dry and tough. The garlic chicken was soggy. And the garlic shrimp, which wasn't too bad taste wise was also soggy. I don't think I'm going to return here to buy another plate lunch again. Extremely disappointed given the location and its menu.

Went after our Costco trip. Love the garlic chicken and steak plates. Hawaii has great local food. I've loved this place for years. Everytime that I come home from NM I make it a point to get a plate from here. I've never been disappointed by this place 10 years running.

I'm only rating this place a 1 star because that is the lowest rating that Yelp has. In my opinion, it should be a negative star. We ordered 2 mixed plates...both with Steak and Smoked meat. I just can't express how disappointed we were with our pricey plates. For $16 a plate, you'd expect decent food. The meat was over cooked and tough. Each piece was hard as rubber, dry and full of gristle and fat. The smoked meat was just as dry. Both were not flavorful at all. The Asian potato salad was weird and watery with limp and soggy cucumbers in it. The only thing that had no complaints from me was the rice. I took a few bites and threw the whole plate out. I ended up eating a frozen pizza for dinner instead. Lesson learned....not everything that looks good actually tastes good. I wish there was a Blazin Steaks near us.

My husband called this HI Steaks about 10 mins before closing time to put in a take out order. We explained that we were on our way but might be like 5 mins late, & that if they couldn't accommodate it was fine. Anyway, they said it was fine. When we got there, which was like 3 mins after closing, the people who worked there had really amazing attitude! They were friendly and treated us just like any other customer even if they were closed already. We just really appreciate the professionalism and the customer service they gave, knowing that they had to stay like a few mins extra. You don't get that as often. The food was really good. The steak was cooked medium rare & was really big yummy pieces. I really enjoy their food here.

First time trying this place, and will sadly be my last. Didn't care for the steak was not hot in temperature and no taste, they gave kale and dressing was nasty, ahi katsu was ok..

Had it twice now. Steak plate and mixed plate both very good. Portions are good and they weigh them out so very consistent.

Food was amazing will definitely go back..

Frankly, the restaurant should change its name to chewy and tough. The medium temperature is often served medium rare and the saldas are meh. It was a good plate when it first opened, but the quality has changed over the years.
