Amazing food, super friendly hosts.
All-vegetarian menu. We tried a bunch of things - soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta and brownie with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, we loved it all. Must-visit when you are in town.

Stopped here just before closing on a rainy day and we were prepared to be turned away but the service was so nice and let us have some soup before closing. Honestly one of the top meals we had on the island! Both soups hit the spot after a day of adventuring in the national park in the rain. Both service and food were top notch and we are sure to return (earlier in the day) on our next trip to the big island!

Cafe Ono is great! Very unique! Humongous garden with many little figurines and nicnacs hidden every way. There is even some room to play ball (great with kids!) and some big bunnies and another secrets garden. Also the art gallery/shop is great to find some truly unique souvenir to bring home. We were there for a big family gathering and rented the place for the night. Therefore we got a buffet and a per person price which was very steep for vegans. The vegan options were fruits and veggies with hummus as appetizers, a Mexican casserole (was okay, but the vegan cheese didn’t melt) and carrot cake. It is nice to have a vegan option on the area and the ambience and setting was really nice. But very expensive!

We had a fabulous time here, both for a small lunch and a large family reunion dinner! The grounds are gorgeous and full of beautiful curiosities, and Ira is a perfect host. The food was good :)

Delicious food and coffee, magnificent vibes, and a beautiful space both indoors and out. The hosts were lovely, and the art beautiful.

This place had delicious food, beautiful outdoor eating spaces, and an art gallery with art from local artists.

Just had lunch at Cafe Ono and it was amazing. Delicious food in a perfect outdoor setting. The gardens, bunnies, and “secret” garden were a big hit for my three year old son. The shops were also very nice if you want to pick up some handmade jewelry or artwork.

We went for lunch and everything about this place is amazing. I had the artichoke lentil sandwich and the miso soup. Perfect. We sat outside in the rambling garden and it was so pretty and relaxing.

I am rarely impressed with food establishments and rarely leave ratings, but I left Cafe Ono feeling so pleased that I wanted to help keep them on the map! The flavors were very unique and well balanced and the portions were just right, leaving me fully satisfied. Absolutely recommend for anyone who wants a nutritious and delicious meal.

Even though it’s a vegetarian restaurant, there are no vegan options listed on the menu, but they’re easy to request. The food wasn’t the best I had in Hawaii, but the location definitely deserves a 5-star review.

Charming spot that was the perfect lunch spot for a day visit to Hawaii Volcanoes NP. Vegan friendly, very filling, and such beautiful outdoor seating. Has a parking lot and great customer service.

Who would have thought one would find a vegetarian restaurant here? Especially one that serves excellent tasty food. The entrees come with grilled bread, a salad, chips and soup, all of which were outstanding.

The open face artichoke pesto sandwich is labeled vegan on the menu board. On December 5, 2024 the waitress told us it was not vegan and she was not sure why it was labeled vegan on the board because it had not been for as long as she could remember. The only other vegan options were a Mexican casserole and chilli. Both tasted the exact same and were children’s-menu quality. I absolutely do not recommend this place because of the dishonesty and the other food is not nearly worth the risk. I was unable to give this place one star because all vegetarian places are allotted two stars on Happy Cow.
