We stopped here after visiting the national park. We were a party of 6. They asked if they could split us into a party of 4 & 2 for seating. We said OKAY but little did we know that we would be on opposite sides of the place. The meal was a little pricey. $18 for 2 side-salads & $43 for our Daily Catch. Meal was good but I think I would look at other places if I am back in Volcano, HI
We had a fantastic dinner in a truly unique setting—an old YMCA camp full of charm and character. We sat beside the “Friendship Fireplace,” which oozed culture and history, adding an unforgettable ambiance to the evening.
We shared the ribeye topped with asparagus and mushrooms in garlic butter—cooked to perfection and absolutely bursting with flavor. The macadamia nut-crusted crab cakes were also a hit: crisp, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
Our server was knowledgeable, professional, and attentive throughout the night. When she wasn’t sure about a wine pairing, she checked with the bartender and returned with an excellent suggestion that perfectly complemented the meal.
The only thing that fell short was dessert. The cheesecake tasted store-bought and lacked the same care and quality as the rest of the meal.
Still, the setting, service, and main courses more than made up for it. A solid 4-star experience—and definitely a place we’d return to.
Food is about what one can expect. The atmosphere and staff are superb.
Had a wonderful stay in Kilauea Lodge:
- The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet
- Lovely hot tub and logs for a fire in the common room
- Great food, we never ate outside the lodge while we were here; really liked the chicken alfredo fettuccine, portions were so large that we always just split one (photos of the portions are half, they split the food into two plates for us every time)
- Conveniently located near Volcanoes national park and secluded with tropical plants; you hear the birds chirping and crickets; very lovely
My husband and I stopped by after a busy day in Hawai’i Volcano National Park and had a fantastic meal. I got the lamb chops and my husband the ribeye. My lamb was cooked perfectly, so tender, and had amazing flavor. The vegetables were even delicious. My husband was having a hard time deciding between the Chicken Diane and the Ribeye so the sever suggested ribeye with the Diane sauce, both were really good. We shared a bit of the meals and I would highly recommend if you like Diane sauce to get it with the lamb it was so good. We ordered the chocolate cake for dinner and it was just the perfect amount of sweet (not overly sweet more of a dark chocolate feel).
Also they have a little gift shop on site and they have really cool shirts. I would check that out if you want to get shirts featuring Volcano National Park
Great food and service
Didn't stay but had brunch. Would not recommend it. Food was blah, coffee cold, waiter was super awkward. We skipped our complimentary breakfast at KMC thinking it was a treat....it was absolutely NOT.
I recently stayed at Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant and absolutely loved it! The rooms were charming and cozy, perfectly capturing the lodge’s unique atmosphere. Dining at the restaurant was a delight, with delicious food and a warm ambiance. Its proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park made exploring easy, while the surrounding ferns, forests, and native bird songs added a magical touch. The well-managed, welcoming staff truly made it a memorable stay!
We visited the Big Island for a week before staying in Honolulu. A local resident suggested we visit Kīlauea Lodge gift shop for our souvenirs. We bought SO many quality items: sweatshirt, wind chimes, ceramic mugs, set of ceramic tiles (wall art), men’s hat, stuffed animal pig puppet, earrings, etc. There was a wide selection of items, many of them from local artists. We visited many shops and farmers markets while on our stay on Oahu and the Big Island, this gift shop was, by far, my favorite for gifts and souvenirs. The customer service was excellent. All fragile items were well wrapped and made it safely home to the mainland. The prices were a bit higher than I would have liked; however, for the quality I was willing to pay it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to eat in the restaurant, which looked so warm and inviting. We look forward to trying it on our next visit.
We had a great time. Staff was the nicest and very helpful. Great location and loved the hot tub!

We celebrated our daughter’s birthday with brunch at Kilauea Lodge Restaurant. Everything about our visit was exceptional. Beautiful, charming ambiance. Attentive, friendly service. Great food. Large portions and fair price. We enjoyed walking the nature trail behind the lodge after our meal. Would highly recommend!

Just had the most excellent dinner here with 4 adults and a 2 year old. We all enjoyed our meals, but the highlight was the mushroom risotto with shrimp - it may have been the best risotto I've had. My 2 year old enjoyed the shrimp so much that we ordered another side and they also brought out extra asparagus when they noticed my daughter had stolen almost all of my husband's. They brought me a taste of the volcano wine, and the rose I ordered when I deemed the volcano wine too sweet was excellent. Adam was a great server, and we overall really enjoyed the meal. The incredibly well curated gift shop was icing on the cake!
This is a hotel, but I go there for lunch. After all, the cheeseburger is the best! ! !
The best way to cook it is medium-rare.
The lodge-like atmosphere is very relaxing. The staff are also very friendly and patiently listen to your questions even if they are not good at English.

I thought I had found the best risotto on the island at Moon and Turtle, but what I got at the lodge tonight is my new #1! The $12 steak add on was a very generous portion and well worth it. I can’t recall the name, but the evening’s soup de jour was (almost) equally delicious (pureed vegetable with bacon).

We visited this restaurant after a long day of hiking and loved the ambiance. Every window offered beautiful views of the surrounding trees. The service was good, and the food was satisfying. I ordered the ribeye, which was perfectly cooked. The dessert, however, was just okay — the lava cake seemed imported. Overall, we had a good experience.
