We booked the premium seating and had a wonderful time! Everyone working there was super nice and friendly. Especially our server Joe, who was kind and super attentive. When my daughter said she felt a little cold, he brought her a warm towel to keep cozy. That really made us feel cared for.
The drinks were tasty, the food was fresh and delicious. And there was a lot of it! We definitely didn’t leave hungry. The show was so fun, with dancing, chanting, and the fire performance. Our kids loved it, and they still talk about Chief Mana and his fire tricks!
Before the show, there were fun things to do like lawn games, hula dancing, temporary tattoos, and photos. The neck pieces they gave us before seating were beautiful and well made. We also would recommend the photograph service. It's $50/photo if I recall correctly, but the quality and keepsake value made it totally worth it.
The sunset view was absolutely stunning!
One small issue is that when we changed our date, the staff mentioned that our original table would be changed to a different number with not much explanation on what that really meant. When we got there I realized that it was still premium seating, but now second row, and the table in front of us blocked a lot of the view especially for the little ones. Lots of time they had to stand or move to see the stage, which wasn’t ideal. If they could arrange the seating better so every premium seat has a clear view, it’d be perfect.
Overall, we had a wonderful night full of good food, great service, and fun entertainment. Would totally recommend!

Great atmosphere and entertainment. Food and drinks were good as well. The staff was excellent, they interacted with my 9 month old several times, A+ on the service and staff!

My reason for giving this Luau a 2 star review is that there is absolutely nothing about this Luau that should make it $900+ for three people non VIP. (the service was great)

Atmosphere: okay, the view is gorgeous it’s on a lawn by the beach in Hawaii can’t beat that. There are about 60 tables with 3-6 people at each table.

Service: servers and waitstaff were friendly helpful bubbly and upbeat

ceviche, little bit of the main meat that they cut up in a bowl and put on table, some Asian inspired noodles, and cut (flank) steak. Also we were served rolls with butter and a salad

At the entrance those who paid $300 seat received dollar store shell necklaces and those I believe paid $450 for VIP received necklaces that were a little more heavy duty.

All and all, I’d skip this Luau 100%. Save your $1000+ for taking a family to do something else.

Nice but very cheese. For the money the show was ok, they could have put in more real details. The pig was not roasted in fire but somewhere in the oven and what they prezent is probably plastic. I would rather eat authentic pig with just rice than all sorts of just ok food.
There should be better Luaus somewhere on the island for less.

Incredible time! From the moment we get our Lay’s to watching the performances to the food. The open bar was just the cherry on top. Highly recommend the premium seating. Cannot wait to go back

Amazing experience! The staff, dancers and the rest of the entertainment were great. The food was delicious and the open bar was definitely a highlight! Would recommend to anyone, especially those who have never been to a luau before. Would definitely come back!

I have been to this Luau before and it has been fairly good, good atmosphere, shows, location and food but pricey imo. I was on a paid vacation with my family with this Luau scheduled. They cancelled only 2 days in advance for lack of attendance and offered nothing but a delayed refund or reschedule on later dates that obviously would not work. The concierge seemed genuinely uninterested in helping. Not mean, just absolutely no solutions other than the most extreme. I expected better treatment and got it at the next luau I booked for less money, Old Lahaina. I will never book here again.

My wife and I have been to a couple Luau's on Maui and this one is the best that we've been to. I love that they do individual group seating, so that you get your own table during the Luau. The pre-dinner drinks are excellent and we really enjoyed the authentic lawn game prior to dinner!

The food was much better than other Luau's, especially since it was family style instead of buffet. Portion sizes were large. The show with dinner was great, including the fire portion!

I had seen this show before in the early 2000’s and I recall more action, including more drums & 2 very fit native young men that would climb coconut trees as part of the show. It has been over 20 years since I’ve been back & was excited to show my son “the best luau on Maui”.

The grounds are beautiful, but as for the show and entertainment itself, to say this was a disappointment would be an understatement.. my son didn’t know any better since he had never been.

All of the action of the show that I recall that made this show spectacular is now gone & now very slow moving & boring. Even though we all wanted to leave, we decided to stay in hopes we would see more action, but nope.

And no, there isn’t 2 solid hours of show/action/dancing. The dancers were hardly on stage at all, maybe 20% of the time.
The rest of the time is waiting and waiting and waiting, including waiting for the crappy food (because it is brought out in courses) .

A little over $800 for a family of 3 and they still charged us $50 extra for a family photo. Ridiculous!!

Whomever the chef, choreographer and the one in charge of ticket pricing for this event needs to be fired. There needs to be WAY more action, especially drums. The pricing for this is more expensive than a Cirque de Soleli show in Vegas and not even CLOSE to being as captivating & entertaining.

What a complete waste of money for a non traditional experience, mediocre food and cheap alcohol drinks. Overly expensive and a rip off. The king at the end with the fire was the highlight but overall the experience was poor, especially for $275 per adult.

Honestly, don’t waste your money here a cheaper luau will be much better with lots more show. We kept wandering off listening to the other luau where it sounded like everyone was getting their money’s worth. We will not ever be back to this one.

We had a great time at the Grand Wailea Lū‘au! The food was excellent and we loved learning more about the Hawaiian culture and origins. Our toddler was mesmerized by the dancing and beautiful outfits.

Had a great time, the food can definitely use some work but there were definitely hits amongst the variety. The show was great and staff are very friendly.

A magical experience. The dancers, the stories, the fire, the MC, and then the service was outstanding. The setting was beautiful with incredible food, gosh I'd go back for the salad and Kahlua pork any day! Sam our server was fantastic and we got to try ancient Hawaiian games and activities too! You must go!

We had booked this luau without looking at Google reviews first and let me be the bearer of bad news but the most recent reviews were pretty spot on.

The positives: the location was phenomenal. The sunset views were out of what seemed like a catalog. The hotel, impeccable and stunning. The outdoor setting was clean and beautifully sculpted. The wait and seating staff were kind and friendly.

The not so positive: the food was bland. For the price that is advertised for this luau, we expected a unique and flavorful dish/dishes but nothing popped out as unique or different. I'd also like to add that the desserts looked like they were bought from the store, as seen in the pictures.
The entertainers were 50/50, half seemed really into the performance and the other half seemed like they didn't want to be there. Again, for the price, I'd assume a performance that was more entertaining.

On a side note, my wife and I have never been to a luau and didn't know what to expect however in this instance, more money for a luau does not mean a better experience. This was a mediocre experience with a great view but with nothing special and nothing warranting the price paid for the luau.

Dietary restrictions: They did call prior to the reservation to see if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions within our party.

I’m gonna be nice and give 2 stars, because the performance itself was great and we really loved it. You could tell there was a lot of heart in it. BUT … For $275 a head the food was bullshit. We both left still hungry and disappointed. Anyone who writes a 5 star review had to be hammered drunk because there’s no way you’d actually think the food was good if you were sober.

I wish we had done more research and found a more authentic experience. You would expect better from the Waldorf Astoria. Severely overrated.
