Binchotan Bar & Grill offers a varied menu with Asian and other types of food. Standout dishes include the tuna crispy rice, tempura crusted cauliflower, mahi-mahi robata, and macadamian nut crusted shrimp. The pork belly fried rice is also highly recommended. Vegan options include udon, fried rice, veg sushi, a tofu side, and a delicious vegan asparagus side with aioli, as well as vegan panna cotta for dessert. The Ribeye was possibly the best steak ever had, and it is a gorgeous spot for a romantic dinner. Pau Hana Happy Hour heaven offers Kanpachi Poke Tacos, Crispy Bao Buns stuffed with Chashu pork, Shishito Peppers, Spring Rolls with Hamakua mushrooms, and Popcorn shrimp dipped in wasabi aioli. Each plate is $10 and you will walk away stuffed. The rolls looked ok but were tasteless at best. The chicken curry was potato based and the chicken was served in deep fried pieces sitting on top of the sauce. The chicken was very dry and the sauce was congealed on the surface. The fried rice was described as having pork belly in it and the pork was a small slab sitting on top of rice. Not very appetizing. Would not recommend this place for anything other than the view. The atmosphere can feel quiet and a bit strange, especially in the evening when the restaurant is often empty both inside and outside. The outdoor lanai offers a pleasant setting, though the ocean view is obstructed. Portions are large enough for sharing, and the restaurant can accommodate late arrivals without rushing guests.
