This was by far my boyfriend and I’s favorite stop during our trip at the Mauna Lani resort. The food was absolutely insane. We got the Ono and a variety of appetizers. All the cocktails were immaculate, and the view was spectacular. Not to mention our service was excellent. We will absolutely return. This was a 10/10 experience!!!!

Wonderful beachside cafe. Only available by non residents via walkway. Parking lot gated for guests.
I have been to this beautiful and very expensive restaurant in Hawaii several times and loved it, however, having just eaten there I was not at all pleased. I ordered a classic Mai Tai, which was nothing at all like a Mai Tai. What arrived tasted like the extremely bitter pith of a grapefruit. My mother and I were not able to drink it. To fix it the waitress brought pineapple juice for us to add which helped, however it still was the worst drink I have had at a restaurant. The tuna was not fresh and the sauce which reminded me of gravy to go on biscuits had no flavor, the noodle salad was also almost flavorless. Very sad, and certainly not worth the money.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and our server went above and beyond to make our evening special. The food was great and the service was outstanding. We would love to come back if we’re on the island again and would highly recommend checking this place out. The views were also beautiful and I’d recommend coming at sunset time.

Ate here twice - food was outstanding both times but the service was really hit and miss. Think it depends on the server

We were really looking forward to dining at Napua at Mauna Lani Beach Club given all the great reviews and recommendations—but unfortunately, our experience fell far short.
We dined with family (including our 6-year-old), and while the setting is beautiful, the service completely derailed the evening. Our waitress took our initial order and then essentially disappeared. After the food was delivered, she never checked back in—not once—to see how things were or if we needed anything. That became a major issue because several dishes had problems that could have easily been addressed.
The catch of the day was underseasoned and nearly raw inside. I had mentioned a gluten intolerance when ordering, but there was no guidance on what dishes would be safe. I ended up ordering the ahi with a sweet potato cake, which—once it arrived—clearly contained gluten. With no follow-up from our server, there was no opportunity to correct it.
The steak was cooked properly but was an overly fatty cut and overall not a particularly inspired dish—it came with just some onions and didn’t feel like it justified the price. We ended up ordering an additional side, which our waitress could have easily recommended upfront had she been more engaged.
To be fair, the rest of the staff was much more pleasant. The host was especially thoughtful and brought out a basket of Magna-Tiles for our son right away, which ended up being the highlight of the evening. The support staff were also attentive and friendly. Drinks were generally fine, though the one wine recommended by our waitress was overly sweet and didn’t pair well with the fish.
Overall, this experience was disappointing and largely impacted by the lack of service. Many of the food issues could have been resolved if our server had simply checked in. Given the reputation and price point, we expected a much higher level of attentiveness and care.
