Came thru the other day and ordered the red king ramen along with 2 other types in my party. As soon as it was served, I noticed the noodles in mine were quite different than the other 2. Upon further review... it appeared my noodles were actually angel hair pasta, not ramen, very far from any type of ramen. Tasted like angel hair, looked like angel hair, same texture as angel hair. The broth was still excellent, but I prefer ramen noodles. Service was pleasant & quick as usual. Clean, open tables on a semi-rainy day!

Food was okay. I got the black garlic ramen, it wasn't what I expected. I can't compare it to anything else because it was my first time trying it but I wasn't too impressed and that was my fault for picking it. Service was good, I did a take out, I called just as I was about to leave my house, by the time I got there my food was ready. Atmosphere was good, I did take out so I can't comment too much about it.

Amazing portions and priced ramen. Best value and meal we had on our vacation, especially with all the daily specials they offer. The UMI Ramen challenge is ridiculous, basically three portions of noodles with all the protein fixings. A must try for the food challenge enthusiastic.

A lot of the former dishes have been removed from their menu since they first opened. Although ramen is still okay just lost the feeling how they first opened. It was a family feel place to eat cause of the workers that made you feel welcomed & food was made with love when they first opened. Now it's just those practical ramen joints. I pray for the family that first opened this establishment that they be blessed and continue to bless others with their amazing food dishes.

Loved the Ramen here. Since moving from town I have been looking for a good Ramen place in the area and I lucked out. The meat, egg, bamboo shot portions are generous and broth was delicious. Will come back for sure!

Food was very tasty and the service was excellent. We had the Shoyu ramen, Calamari, Gyoza and Karaage Chicken.

Went due to the high ratings , the spice levels were good but the base soup broth and flavor was lacking in a big way, so many better ramen places to eat at on island.

We decided to try here after reading yelpers' reviews, but it wasn't as great as the reviews I read. Located inside Waipahu Town Center, right next to seafood city, this ramen place was pretty good. Umi Ramen - 3.5 stars - The soup was a little watery but average, and the noodles were a little too hard, but the char siu was awesomely tender with a lot of flavor as well as the egg. My son ordered the tonkatsu black king ramen, but my Umi special had more taste in my broth than his. His broth did not have that black sesame taste at all, and it was watery, so not much taste in his broth overall. They also had a special for a lower price, and it was ok. Their fried chicken was very tasty, and I also liked their squid rings (both 5 stars). Service was excellent (5 stars). The waitress checked up on us from time to time and filled our waters. She even took time to explain about the ramen when we had questions. Lots of parking since it is in the Waipahu Town Center. Good ramen restaurant to eat lunch before or after shopping in that area.

I tend to be really picky with ramen but this place had Really good broth! I really enjoyed it , it was a good price I think for what it was for as well. the lady who helped us was really friendly , recommend for a nice small dinner date c:

Came here so that my boyfriend could try the ramen challenge where you get a large bowl of ramen that you have to finish within 15 minutes, and spoiler he completed it. My ramen was the black king tonkastu ramen which was so flavorful and came with a decent amount of toppings. The egg was perfect and decent size ramen bowl. My boyfriend's bowl came with char sui, croquette, and shrimp tempura. He wasn't quite sure what kind of broth it was but he did say it wasn't as good as my broth. If you complete the challenge you also get a full stamp card to come back and get a free ramen. If you don't finish you have to pay $25 but the size was huge that I definitely think two to 3 people could share it. I definitely want to come back and try their other dishes, they have some pretty good combo deals too.

Yummy Umi Ramen! Good Food, Clean Dining Area, Friendly Service... We ordered The Spicy Miso, Tonkotsu Ramen, Beef Bowl, Fried Rice and a diet coke. lol I love that this place doesn't look like all the other casual Ramen places...

Being from town, I'm surrounded by a bunch of ramen shops and had my fair share of ramen bowls in my belly. Since we were in the area for an event (literally a two minute drive), we thought "why not!" Heads up, they don't have a restroom so they suggest to go into Seafood City. A lot of the reviews raved about the Tonkatsu Black King Ramen so that was my pick while my friends got the Tonkotsu Red King Ramen and the TanTan. Their broths aren't too bad and is flavorful but one of my biggest disappoinments was that my Tonkatsu Black King Ramen.....was not black. I tasted no garlic whatsoever; it was a regular pork broth which was good but that's not what I ordered so my other friend and I were pretty sad....the noodles were also overcooked (in our opinions) because we prefer al dente. However, we did very much enjoy their charsiu and egg! It was soft and and delicious

Small place, nothing fancy, But noodles was delicious though. Taste like real bone broth.

I actually don't think there's any other ramen spot in the heart of Waipahu unless you want to drive to Waikele or Waipio? Awesome! That's innovative right there, seeing a need for the community and filling it. This place can be a great option for dinner if you don't know what you want to eat and fast food isn't what you're looking for after you're done buying groceries at seafood city. Service was fast and kind, our waitress did a great job answering questions and helping us pick out appetizers to go along with our spicy ramen. The decorations match the casual atmosphere, and the restaurant is clean. The food, appetizers and ramen, is pretty standard compared to other restaurants on the island. But remember, when I post this, Umi ramen is technically the only place for ramen in Waipahu so if you want ramen, they'll deliver. You're bound to find something on the menu you'll like and want to try. Our ramen tasted great and we left full and satisfied. This place is not too fancy, and not too plain, it's just right!
