AK's Chrome Kitchen is a cozy restaurant located in Algona, offering a varied menu for breakfast and lunch. The place is known for its friendly and quick staff, who are always smiling and polite. Regular customers praise the consistently good service and the fast turnaround, even during busy hours. The menu includes favorites like the cowboy burger, homemade Mac n Cheese, and chicken Alfredo Fettuccine, which are always delicious. The breakfast options are highly recommended, with eggs Benedict served in generous portions and hash browns topped with cheese and jalapeños being a must-try. Coffee lovers enjoy the best coffee in Algona, with unique choices such as cinnamon roll iced latte and peanut butter iced latte. The firehouse wrap is also popular among diners.
The restaurant has a cute decor with clever storage, though it can get loud due to the lively atmosphere filled with chatting and laughter. It offers plenty of seating options, including a gathering area for larger groups, making it a good spot for family and friends. The food is flavorful, and many enjoy the tender chicken fried steak with good white gravy, as well as the western omelette, which is tasty even if a bit more scrambled than traditional. The warm ciabatta dinner roll is a nice touch, and the potatoes are whipped but still enjoyable. Green beans are canned, but the staff are accommodating, often providing fresh vegetables like broccoli instead.
AK's Chrome Kitchen is also appreciated for its affordable coffee, with endless pots available at a low price. The restaurant's atmosphere adds to its charm, with a home-town feel that many find welcoming. While some limitations exist, such as not allowing vegetable sides to be swapped for soup and the staff dropping checks without offering desserts, the overall experience remains positive. Many customers return for the great food, friendly service, and cozy environment, making it a favorite spot for breakfast and lunch in Algona.
