Great food and great service!
Great place for fellowship and food. Good service. A little loud for my taste music-wise. But overall, I would recommend this venue to everyone!
Had one of the best Patty Melts I had had in ages
Small karaoke bar. Decent food. Older crowd.

Searched online for a Sports Bar and it would appear I've found The Sports Bar. Of all the sports bars in Des Moines, Sam's has been recognized as the best sports bar. Happy I made a stop at the "Cheers" of Altoona.
Very festive and friendly crowd, thanks to Amanda and Shawn for the freshly fried wings, which were plump and juicy. (Not like those double fried wings one gets in a chain restaurant).
Pop in for the local craft beers and am very surprised of the quality and flavors. These beers should be marketed throughout the States. I have never, ever tried any beers like these before. I'll never drink a Coors again.
Wheelchair accessibility: Roll right on it.

Very friendly patrons and bartender. It’s bar food on the next level. A lot of places have good wings, but these are above good. They have become my wife’s favorites. The fried shrimp is also excellent. My old-fashion was tasty and well priced. Always busy with locals after 6, but there’s usually a place or 2 at the bar. Karaoke on Fridays, if that’s your thing.
Parking: It’s in a strip mall, so they compete with other businesses for parking. Occasionally, you may have to walk a bit further to get a spot, but never too far. I think there’s also parking in the back.
Kid-friendliness: Not a place for kids.

Stopped for a quick drink and some onion rings around 4 on a Thursday.
Plenty of seating available- directed to choose seat.
Ordered onion rings and drinks. My friend had a mule, I had a tequila sunrise. I specifically asked to please have very little tequila and the drink was burnt. Not life altering but I did ask and then wasn't able to drink it cause it was too strong.
Onion rings thin cut and yummy. Could have cooked for another 45 seconds. And it was not a very big portion for a full order.
All in all a good experience though. Nice and clean inside, cool temp, a few slots machines, TVs, etc. Good menu of drinks and food.
