Honestly the best Chinese foods hands down around Ames. All of my friends and I love this place and we are all Asians. I’d considering trying Sliced Beef in Hot Chili Oil or Grilled Fish as they are our go to whenever we eat here. The only downside would be the Atmosphere as it does look a bit run down but overall a 5/5.

The food is incredible especially the crab wontons. There’s not a lot of staff so if it’s busy the service can be a little slow, but Joy is super kind, and will always do her best to give you a good experience even when busy. It’s definitely a hole in the wall restaurant, but I rather enjoy that about the atmosphere.

I tried the hot pot. It was very tasty and affordable, and the amount of food was more than enough for two people.

The host was also very charming.

Placed an order for pickup FOUR HOURS IN ADVANCE. Scheduled it to be picked up at 8:35.

We’ve went there twice so far and the lady was always very nice. I’m Chinese, and although my mandarin is not the best, it was nice talking to her. The food is great and big portions for good prices. They also gave us extra portions on appetizers. My boyfriend especially likes this place. Reminds me of my family meals back in California.

Our first time trying Joy's was a highly positive experience. I picked up the food, so atmosphere was a non-issue for me. I had ordered pork buns, but they made up for it with the great service and food with a little bonus thrown in.

This place is one of few (if not the only) spot in Ames with fantastic sesame balls, and they reminded me a lot of my time in comparable places in Chinatown neighborhoods in the Southwest. The kung pao chicken, chicken fried rice, and egg custard buns were all delightful.

Highly recommend!

Holy cow what a great meal!!!! This is absolutely my new favorite place in Ames. Shame on me for not having frequented it all this time! I ordered a LOT of food and every last bit of it was fantastic!!! When I came in to pick it up, the owner was super friendly and even walked half of my food out to my car across the street. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu with my family. TEN STARS!!!❤️
