It was an absolute dream to have our wedding at Prairie Moon Winery. A few things that stood out as exceptional were the staff, the space, and how easy the entire experience felt from start to finish.
Kacie was incredible to work with. She made planning feel calm and simple, responded quickly every time, and was knowledgeable and honest throughout the process. She helped us with every detail and handled every request, even the unusual ones. She made everything seamless, and I would recommend her in a heartbeat.
The venue itself is gorgeous inside and out. Our guests loved being able to move between the reception space, the lawn, and the vineyard. It created such an effortless flow and a beautiful atmosphere for everyone. The decor pieces provided by the venue saved us time and money, and there were endless spots for incredible photos.
Prairie Moon was flexible with everything we asked for and made the entire day feel easy. We had an amazing experience and would choose this venue again without hesitation.

Amazing, professional banquet staff!! These staff went above and beyond, were very professional and helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the weekend. Hannah and Kacie were absolutely great!! Having good staff is key to running successful events and weddings and this venue is lucky to have great ones! $5 entry fee but you get a drink ticket that covers that. Live music every Sunday from 3pm-6pm. A great relaxing way to spend an afternoon. They have a really good woodfire pizza available but order early. It take a while for them to make and they do run out I'm going to say around 5pm. Bring a lawn chair, nice trees to sit under if your not a sun person. Some dance, children and well behaved dogs welcome. Really enjoy it 😊 Sorry no pics while there

We came to visit this winery and the brewery next door. The premises are a real jewel, very besutifully done, it reminded me of our California wineries. If you are in the area you must visit this winery. You can bring a picnic and make a day of it. Both the winery and the Brewery offer music on weekends and the staff is very personable and friendly. I highly recommend you check out this place. The Cabernet is pretty good and all there wines are very drinkable. They have a nice Chardonnay and a peach sweet wine that reminds me of a muscato they also have a bunch of sweet Sangria's. All in all a wonderful experience.

Stopped Here 8-3-2025. Busy place outside on patio. Great wine! We had Honey Moon Wine. Sweet purple grape wine with a honey kiss. Loved it! Beautiful interior at the tasting room! Warm and colorful! On the path walking up to tasting room, wonderful fragrant minty bushes!

A couple of things that really stood out as excellent were Kacie, the event manager, the space itself, and the overall flexibility of everything. About Kacie - if you want to work with someone who will make your life while planning an event as easy as possible, pick Kacie and Prairie Moon. She usually responded to my communications with her within an hour but a day at the latest. She is clearly very knowledgeable and is upfront about everything having to do with the details. She made a lot of out of the ordinary requests from us happen and she was absolutely a dream to work with. I would absolutely recommend her. About the space - it is absolutely gorgeous both inside and out. One thing we loved was that our guest could mingle inside the reception space but also outside on the lawn and near the vineyard, which was great for our guests. Additionally, the venue provided a lot of decor aspects that saved us a lot of money. There were also a lot of great spots for pictures. About the flexibility - overall they worked with everything we requested and needed throughout. We had a great experience. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Prairie Moon. If there was one thing that could have been different about our day, it would be that during our event, staff for Prairie Moon were setting up for another wedding the next day. I believe they had a staffing issue leading to this, but it was disappointing. However, it did not hugely take away from our day and I still loved our experience.

I've been to alot of places and have tasted a lot of wine, but my favorite has always been and is STILL to this day, Prairie Moon . Honey Moon is one of the best red wines I've ever tasted! I highly recommend a visit during the summer events!

We had bad weather and ended up moving everything in doors but Kacie and her staff were more than accommodating. Everyone commented on what a pretty venue it was - and it certainly is. Updated 3/25: I still think this is one of the best wedding venues in Ames! // I've photographed multiple weddings here and always leave thankful for this wedding venue in central Iowa! The staff is beyond helpful, and the space is magical- just a wonderful find outside of Ames and Des Moines.
