Our server was a great young lady and very nice. Now the food is another story. The hush puppies came out black and burnt. Boneless wings were burnt too. They remade the items but the oil they used tasted so old and nasty. The oil in the fryer definitely needs changed. I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. First time there. Will never come back.
They could be on an Episode of Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen it was so bad.

If you ever need to plan an event, I 110% recommend having at Sweet Carolines. From the first email I sent to Chelsey (Event Coordinator) until the end of our event, we had top tier service. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was FUN, our bartender was phenomenal.

We sat down and waited, but no one came to greet us. We even double-checked with the hostess to make sure we were in the right section, and she confirmed we were.

There were only three other tables in the entire restaurant, yet our waitress spent most of the time at the bar on her phone, cleaning her white coat, or drinking. After placing our drink and appetizer order, she didn’t return to take our entrée order—we had to wait until the appetizers were brought out before we could place it. Our waters were never refilled.

The entire experience took about an hour, despite how slow it was.

When we finally asked for the check, she handed it back and simply said, “Have a good rest of your day and safe travels.” Unfortunately, that was the most interaction we received from her the whole meal.

Was there for my wife's birthday. The wife and daughters loved their dinners, grandson loved the fries, my soup was cold

We came in late Saturday afternoon and were seated right away. We had a great meal before going to the Chicago concert at CY Stevens Auditorium. Despite the fact the restaurant became increasingly busy the serving staff remained attentive and efficient.

We waited an hour to get our food. We did have a group of 19. They never came to check on us during the hour. People had to leave before the food came out. Then everyone's food was cold! No reduction on are bills. I will not ever go back

We were in town for a funeral and wanted to watch the Texas/Mississippi State game. We planned to eat and drink and stay for the whole game but they refused to change one of their fifteen TVs to our game. The Iowa State game had started 45 minutes earlier, and we were only asking for the smallest most inconvenient TV and they refused even though they weren’t crowded. And they weren’t even nice about it.

Usually at least good. But most recent visit was not. Missed our reservation. Brought all the food except one before acknowledging they didn't even have what they ordered. Another gave a drink order and waited several minutes before acknowledge they didn't have that either.

I guess I misunderstood the BBQ sauce on the meatloaf. I thought it meant BBQ sauce was baked onto the top of the meatloaf before it was cut. Had I known that they put it all over the slice on your plate, I definitely would have told them not to. Even after scraping it off, I still have no idea what the actual meatloaf tastes like. Sauce overwhelmed everything. I didn't even finish it because I got fed up with tasting nothing but sauce. Everything else including rest of food, staff and atmosphere was great. We were there during the day that they were trick-or-treating. We had fun watching the little kids and even adults in costumes.

Say what you will about everything else. This place has the best fried chicken in Ames, and that’s what counts.

Sat down outside and ordered a couple beers. They never came. Were told the bar was really busy making drinks. Maybe they were making the beer? We'll try again sometime.

Excellent service and food. Our waitress and waiter were friendly and professional. Service can’t be be beat. We had drinks and dinner. Large chicken dinner wit corn and green beans. Mmmmwah!! Best chicken ever! Not only tasty but huge pieces. Dark meat was moist and piping hot. Veggies both very good. Seasoned green beans were extra good. Where do you get your chicken? The biggest pieces I’ve ever seen!! We also ordered one of the burgers. Super good! Side salad was delicious as well. Wish we had room for dessert because they all sounded good but too full this time. Maybe next time.
Overall…wonderful experience and dining. We’ve been boasting about it to all of our friends. We’re making this our “go-to” place from now on. Thank you so much!!

We had a group of 12 and they forgot two of the meals. It took them about 30 minutes to serve those two meals after everyone else had already eaten. No rush, no comp, just oops.
