I have been going to this place since I was going to college back in 2015-2016 and they were located by Cafe B and Mr burrito. My favorite thing to get Sunday morning after a weekend of partying was the hot and sour wonton soup. Everything I have tried there has been amazing quality. At times it gets to be a long wait but that goes out the window as soon as I start eating lol I will stop periodically when I’m in the area and brings me back great memories of eating with great friends. I definitely recommend this place for people who want to try authentic Chinese cuisine!

If you're craving for some Szechuan cuisine, this is the place to be! It may very well be the best in Iowa. Authentic Szechuan cuisine with great flavors and well-presented.Pricing is a little on the high side but for its authentic dishes, you won't regret it. Service can be a little slow at times but that's because it's always packed in here.Highly recommended if you're looking to try some authentic Szechuan cuisine.

Authentic and dependable and the staff is wonderful especially the maitre d - an intelligent, warm, friendly, beautiful woman wise beyond her years. Worth the visit all by herself - the great food being a bonus. My daughter lived in China for four months and said this was the most authentic Chinese she has had in the US - not hard to believe. She couldn't understand how people stayed so thin, she gained fifteen pounds while she was there.Vegetarian options: Better than that - vegan. Many options - hard to chose but leftovers are half the fun. I always order at least one extra dish.

The place is a little run-down but what it lacks for ambiance it makes it up with great and tasty dishes. I like that they have two menus, an extensive one for real Chinese dishes and another for American-Chinese options. I had the cumin spare ribs that were very flavorful with the right amount of heat. My wife and daughter were very happy with their options too. Will definitively come back

Best authentic Chinese ever. The dry pot is absolutely incredible - so much flavor and cooked to perfection. You get so much food too!It’s a tradition to get Taste Place every time we pass through or stop in Ames.

Just called in and ordered Taste Place and they told me that they could make the order but didn’t have any rice. I asked if they would have it later and they said “nah”. Then I asked if they would take some money off since they didn’t have it and I would have to buy it somewhere else then all they said was “nah” again. Then I asked if they had any substitute and all they said was like we have noodles and potstickers and such but I have to pay extra.I love their food but pretty disappointed with the customer service there. I don’t believe this is the right way to respond your customer when you could only fulfill a partial order and not finding a way to make it better.
