Ankeny Diner Reviews
Had mother's day brunch. Good selection of food on the buffet line. Good service to. Had 11 am reservation. Was seated right at 11am.
Food was great and reasonably priced to say the least. Our waitress did a fantastic job and the hostess was extremely friendly. I didn't remember their names, but we were there from 1 to 2 on 03/26. Maybe all the staff is as friendly, but I hope you can pass on an extra compliment. It's hard to find.
Stopped in for lunch, had a French dip sandwich (the meat was a tad bit dry), a side of cheese sticks and a peanut butter and chocolate shake. Absolutely phenomenal shake! Literally so so good. Most of the food was incredibly tasty as well!! Our server was Autumn, she was very friendly, kind and a wonderful waitress!
The space was very beautiful, the mirrors make it feel very open and spacious. Overall a wonderful place with great food!

Ankeny Diner is a genuine cafe serving Midwest classics in a warm atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, making it a favorite stop in Ankeny. Visitors often feel comfortable and familiar, as if they are in a place with a homey vibe. The menu offers a good selection, featuring awesome and reasonably priced food. Popular dishes like the chicken fried steak special, patty melt burger and fries, or hearty breakfast options such as two eggs with bacon and hashbrowns or omelets can be enjoyed. While the ambiance has a very old school feel, minor updates like new flooring and paint have made it brighter and cleaner. The long-standing staff seem to really enjoy their work, which adds to the overall experience. Although the diner can get busy, especially on Sundays, and seating may be staggered at times, the overall dining experience remains pleasant. Overall, Ankeny Diner offers a cozy, friendly place to enjoy Midwest classics, making it worth returning to for more.
