My wife and I drove down from Boone, Iowa to have brunch at the Early Bird in Ankeny. It was well worth the drive. Our waiter (Gage) provided wonderful service. The menu is diverse with many unique offerings along with your normal breakfast staples. We were read it and thanked by Karla as well as many other members of the staff. Food is fantastic. I would highly recommend them for brunch or lunch.
Our 1st visit & we will be back! Our server, Courtney, was attentive, polite & made us feel welcome. The food was amazing! The crab rangoon omelet..to die for! The manager stopped to visit & we shared with her it was our anniversary. Later, our server brought a celebration pancake for us! Something we did not expect, but it appreciated. We will be back! Thank you Early Bird!
paid 21 dollars for the corn beef hash over hash browns the potatoes were so burnt it ruined the whole breakfast will never try them again nor recommend them
We had chicken coffee, fried steak, eggs, grits, and banana bread french toast.
Eggs, French toast, and chicken fried steak were good.
The coffee was sour. This is usually due to errors in the brewing. A breakfast spot lives and dies by its coffee imo, and this leaves its best flavors in the brew basket.
The grits are supposed to be sausage grits, but they were bland. They were made significantly better after adding salt, butter, hot sauce, and a significant amount of black pepper.
All in all, this place is just okay, but it charges a premium price for it.
First time any of us have been there. Large menu with something for everyone. Food was good and portions generous.
Love this place! If you don't want to wait for 30 + minutes for a seat, go during non peak hours. However, it is worth the wait!
Had breakfast this morning with my husband and we both enjoyed our meals and the service provided by Hayleigh!
Some say it’s just breakfast. To me, next to lunch and dinner, it’s one of the most important meals of the day. Hayleigh was amazing. She rocks! Her service is great. Request her table.
FLOCK YEAH!
We come to the Ankeny location often and many times we get Hayleigh as a waitress. She provides excellent, friendly service. Another plus is that she recognized us from previous visits. We will be back and hope Hayleigh is our waitress.
Very good food which became a wonderful experience because of Tarla & her staff. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place!! We just enjoyed breakfast at the Village Point location.
We came at a very busy time, 12:15 on a Sunday, so we had a 45 minute wait. Seating inside was all full, so we stood outside. The weather was thankfully beautiful. I ordered the biscuits and gravy platter, with hash browns and scrambled eggs. There was enough there for two meals, which helped weigh out the cost of these breakfast foods. My son loves their hash browns, and they did not disappoint! They are not the typical fried item. You will have to try them out yourself. As we waited for our meal, I gazed around our table and saw lots of delicious food being served. I will definitely be returning the next time I am in Ankeny!

We visited Des Moines from Minneapolis and had a party of three on a Saturday morning. We decided to sit at the bar vs. wait 20-30 minutes. Carla served us at the bar and was also taking care of a full section in the dining area due to a server calling in, but you'd never know it -- she handled all of us at the bar with grace, humor, and ease under pressure. We had a blast with her. The food was excellent (the #16 blueberry/lemon pancake plate and the chicken fried steak bfast were amazing!). This will now be our regular bfast place when we visit the Des Moines area.
