High quality, rotating ice cream flavors made in-house. Lots of selection, both in the dipping case and to-go pints in the freezer. This ice cream is premium - it's my very favorite shop in the area and I gladly pay a little extra for something this incredibly delicious.

We booked The Outside Scoop for our wedding in Des Moines and it was a hit! The staff did a great job and we heard nothing but positive feedback from all of our guests. Would highly recommend!

This is a second time I ordered a 1/2 gallon of the white chocolate caramel cheesecake and it is not full. With the increase in price costing now $29.99. The least they should do is to fill the 1/2 gallons as the pint that are on the freezer ready for purchase.

I was looking forward to a Banana split. I heard great things about this place However the banana spit was very disappointing. The presentation was messy, the chocolate peanutbutter ice cream had crystalized sugar in it, and the kit kat Ice cream was stale every bit was stale kit kat, it was very off putting. I was very shocked because it came so highly recommended. sadly I do not recommend this place. maybe I'll give them another chance when I'm back in town

Great interior and more ice cream options than most shops. Cool artwork in abundance. Excellent pricing. Lots of parking. I loved their Chocolate Oreo Cookie Dough!

First of all this place blows. The salted caramel ice cream tasted like mineral spirits and the service there was slower than old people f u c k. Also way over priced will not be returning

Stopped one evening later a few days ago and ordered a hot fudge malt….took forever to make it and very few people in the place. Finally came over to ring me up and the total was $9.53. You have got to be kidding me?!?!?! I about handed it back to him but I just paid and moved on. Bottom Line…your small cheap plastic cup “premium priced” malt was nowhere near a $10 value. I’m not even sure how you feel you can justify that! One and done for me and it wasn’t anywhere near the quality of the best I’ve had at half that price. LMAO…seriously the most ridiculous thing! Overrated!

I enjoyed my time at the Outside Scoop. The service was very pleasant. As for the banana split, the ice cream was a bit stiff and hard to dig into. I didn’t taste much of the chocolate ice cream, the vanilla was good for flavor, and strawberry ok. The flavor was in the chocolate syrup and the waffle chunks that were added. At $14, I had better quality splits for much less. The rest of the experience was really good.

The Outside Scoop used to be my favorite place for ice cream, but the experience is no longer what it used to be. The largest factor is that the prices have increased to a point where it is no longer affordable to go except for special occasions. There is also an overwhelming amount of flavors to choose from at the Ankeny location, which makes ordering difficult, especially when there is a large crowd. The ice cream is excellent, but the atmosphere is just not the same from when it originally opened in Indianola.

The atmosphere and the service are great, but the ice cream is mediocre, really no flavor, I've had way better especially for the price. It was our st & last time there.
