We arrived at 5:30 to be rudely told they were closed for a private party. Had taken a dose of insulin in the parking lot, which created an issue in getting some carbs stat, or driving around hypoglysemic. This is a glorified bar! Never coming back.

Enjoyed the berry bliss chicken salad and the Trailside burger. Wish they offered the regular menu earlier than 2 pm as brunch goes til then and I was excited about their weekend special salad that was not offered at 1 pm.

Unfortunately we arrived to an empty restaurant. We were greeted and got our initial drink order. After this our experience became a journey to the unknow.unknown. Our served disappear after ordering we sat for at least 45 min before we choose to ask someone about our food. To be informed it was still going to be a few. However one of our guest had a confrontation with the manager. They're smanager was bold and confrontational. I believe he thinks he was defending his staff. However during his confrontation he forgot about the one rule of the restaurant business the customer is always correct rather you believe this or not. I will note he did pay for my family's round if drinks. However he had already made a guest not want to come back. Sad that a professional restaurantier would ever engage a guest in a confrontational manner. I would request a call from the ownership group. I was here to celebrate my son's wedding some shame. Ps. Note 2 of us are restaurant owners. And you should be offering the up most respect. And am still hungry.

Trailside Tap is a must-visit in Ankeny! The back patio is amazing. The Berry Summer Salad and Three Pepper Burger were packed with flavor and just the right size. And do yourself a favor—order the Mulberry Mule. You won’t regret it!

Great small resturant along the Tressel bridge trail. Lots of seating inside nd really cool area outside. Staff was friendly and sat us quickly. Lots of beer choices on tap. 1 page menu with plenty of options for most tastes. We ordered crab cakes and a hamburger. The food arrived quickly. The atmosphere is definitely built around being outdoors and biking. The hamburger was juicy full of flavor and prepared perfectly. The fries where fried and definitely had a fried taste. The crab cakes where average but cooked perfect with some crispy tastes. The food was better then bar food and would serve well if coming off a bike ride. The beer was cold and delicious.
