Quick lunch on a Friday. They had good variety in the menu. We were greeted, seated, and served, all quickly.

Great small resturant along the Tressel bridge trail. Lots of seating inside nd really cool area outside. Staff was friendly and sat us quickly. Lots of beer choices on tap. 1 page menu with plenty of options for most tastes. We ordered crab cakes and a hamburger. The food arrived quickly. The atmosphere is definitely built around being outdoors and biking.
The hamburger was juicy full of flavor and prepared perfectly. The fries where fried and definitely had a fried taste. The crab cakes where average but cooked perfect with some crispy tastes. The food was better then bar food and would serve well if coming off a bike ride. The beer was cold and delicious.
Kid-friendliness: A few kid friendly options
Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely easy access for handicap and plenty of table access

Delicious brunch! Their sourdough toast/bread is the best! Great hash browns and omelets! Freshly squeezed orange juice!

Best place to eat in Ankeny!
Service was good Cheese curds were good That’s about it Burgers were flavorless and dry the beef was low grade and chewy Buns were dry and spongy Tenderloin was way over cooked and tough We had heard good things about this place a while back and wanted to try it out. I don’t think we will be back We should’ve went to Wig and Pen or Sportspage, they never disappoint

Cool vibe, but mixed experience overall. Drinks came out in about 10 minutes, which was fine, but the food took 30 minutes, and the execution left a lot to be desired. The burger was undercooked, and the tenderloin had an interesting nutmeg flavor. The portion size was crazy big, but it came with a disappointingly tiny bun.
On the bright side, the cauliflower wings were absolutely awesome—perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
Loved the live music drifting in from next door, and the happy hour deal (25% off apps and drinks before 6 PM) was a nice bonus.
Would I come back? Maybe, but only for the cauliflower wings and the vibe.
I used to tell people that Trailside had the best food in Ankeny. If I said that now, I’d be lying. They have a lot of nerve charging $18 for a very dry, obviously frozen patty they threw on the grill. The cheese curds had no flavor, won’t be back.

Not certain what happened to the menu and the food??? Really sad used to be excellent food, staff and beer menu!
Four of us got Sunday brunch. Food was slow to come out despite it not being busy. Food was heavily salted and the bacon for the BLT wasn’t crisp. Floor and table was sticky. Probably won’t be back. Server was nice though.

A decent little place. Drink prices were reasonable and service was friendly. Our food took 30+ minutes to come out on a not very busy evening but it was good once we got it.
