“Today marks the first bad smoothie I've received from Smoothie King. The unfortunate part is that it is a menu item I get quite frequently. This was an item I have never tried before, might've just assumed it was a flavor I didn't like. For reference it was a Slim N Trim Chocolate, and to start with the consistency it was anything but a smoothie. When I arrived I could tell something was off because there was a solid mass to one side of the cup and visible chocolate liquid next to it. I took it anyway and stirred the contents of the cup on my way to the car. Then came the first sip, which I nearly spat out. I was expecting a smooth chocolate taste with a hint of banana undertones. What I received was what I can only describe as chunks of ice mixed with a water/milk mix that had cocoa powder blended in with it. I proceeded to stir some more hoping to better blend it. I stopped trying after ingesting maybe 20% of the smoothie. Chunks of ice that kept blocking/clogging the straw, no hint of banana, and overtly bitter tasting liquid consistency. This attempt feels as though it was rushed, ingredients not portioned right, and not blended nearly long enough.

Will I go back? Yes, though if this becomes more common it is less likely to continue. Service has always been good, and I like the atmosphere. Because this is the first bad smoothie experience out of otherwise really good smoothies, I only dropped the food score to 3 stars, but again I will re-evaluate if this turns out to not be a blue moon experience.

UPDATE: I wanted to give the full benefit of the doubt so I went back to it after the some of the ice melted. It did not improve at all. Imagine bitter watered down chocolate milk with the occasional crunch of ice. And still no banana. 🤷‍♂️“
