Having lived in Burlington for a while now I was surprised I had yet to leave a review for this lovely place!
For starters: the ability to customize drinks is unmatched. I'm safely able to ask staff about ingredients, request they be removed or added (with extra charge sometimes), and never once have they made me feel afraid to ask. I often run into spots that get antsy when I request certain things to be removed from food and drink but never here.
Ever since they started serving Matcha specifically though, I've been in bliss. I can make an oat milk cold tea with some vanilla flavoring and it's PERFECT every time. Heck, even the barista that helped me with making it was so kind and knowledgeable. If I run into her again I will 100% ask her name.
The food on occasion can be hit or miss, but considering I often get the same thing frequently they always deliver. Kicked Up Grilled Cheese is the best, though I wish the cheese was a tad more melted. Paired with the Cinnamon Apples or Fresh Fruit ? Speaking of, if you've never had a breakfast smoothie bowl: GET ONE!
The baristas are honestly my favorite part. While I have a hard time remembering people, some do occasionally recognize me and it makes me feel very comfortable. The atmosphere is quiet, and allows me to eat in peace. Even when it's busier, the guests are usually courteous. Very nice of you're someone that struggles with neurodivergence.

I was in Burlington yesterday for work and wanted to try a local coffee shop. The reviews for this place seemed positive so I stopped in and it totally surpassed my expectations! The staff was genuinely friendly and seemed to enjoy being there. I was a barista for a long time and that's a big green flag that a coffeehouse is well-run.
I was impressed with the quality of the food vs. the scope of the menu. In my experience as a worker, the bigger the menu is the worse the food is because they're probably getting a lot of it shipped in pre-made and frozen to cut down on prep time. This did not seem like the case with my food! I got the breakfast burrito and it was fresh and healthy.
Incredibly good coffee too!! I absolutely slammed my iced latte. They use the good oat milk. Hopefully I have a reason to stop back in someday!
My daughter lives in Burlington and we make it point to visit here every time we are in town! Drinks are great, I get the Boba tea!

An amazing little coffee house, one I'd love to see grow! Much better than bigger chains like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts as it's all about that small-town vibe that I love. Amazing staff, amazing service, amazing atmosphere, and even better... HANDMADE!!
Dietary restrictions: I'm allergic to onions, one time my partner and I went in. I wanted some food but I couldn't have the onions but being nost places cook the onions in, I can't have it. THEY MADE A FRESH ONE JUST FOR MY ALLERGY!!
Kid-friendliness: On multiple occasions I've seen children in there that always had a smile and laughing. However, they do have some alcohol for add-ins or beer for a lunch but if you watch your kids, I'm sure it'll all be 100% okay!

I stopped in during one of their busiest days, Ragbrai came thru today. I have to say, that even though they were crazy busy, ALL the girls working were so incredibly welcoming and sweet. The Tiger Milk Tea Boba was delicious as always and the giant chocolate chip cookie really satisfied my sweet tooth! I highly recommend stopping by The Beancounter, it’s such a cute place, a wide variety on their menu, and super friendly staff!

Each and every time I step foot in The Beancounter, it’s a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is so helpful! Whether it’s a slow and steady day or slammed like today with RAGBRAI in town, I can count on the staff to get my order right, answer any questions I have, and make my day so much brighter. Thank you for being such a wonderful local business for our community!

I cannot comprehend to lack of care and compassion this establishment has to their customers. I asked for a water today was denied and told I would need to buy a bottle after spending $30+ on lunch.
I am pregnant and it is currently the middle of summer.
I refuse to recommend or spend any money here due to the many stories and past experiences myself with rude staff and poor decisions by the owner.

I really love this coffee shop/cafe! The staff is always so welcoming and friendly! I always feel very taken care of when I come to the Beancounter! Whether it’s to grab coffee with a friend, or work on my laptop, The Beancounter has been a favorite of mine! The staff always greet you as well. I love their Lotus drinks- No Sleep Til Sunrise is a personal favorite! They have so many unique food options as well! Definitely recommend!

The best coffee shop in Burlington. Had the S’mores cold brew and my partner tried the Pistachio latte. The s’mores brew was so satisfying! Definitely a sweet treat with some caffeine. The pistachio latte had the strongest pistachio flavor I have ever had in a latte. The açaí bowl and egg avocado toast were also top notch. The egg avocado toast came with a generous amount of fruit (and good fruit too!). The açaí bowl had so much peanut butter and so much fruit. Such healthy and good meals. They also donate a portion of their coffee sales to dogs in need! Such a great small business. Go support them! I’ll definitely be back!
