Food was ok. Chips were on the darker side. Portions were a good size. Server unsure what a ground beef quesildilla was, had to all a few times for extra salsa, napkins and didn't come by very often. Dinner rush was over, after 7pm.

It’s not easy to find a Mexican restaurant (really any restaurant) that stands out in all categories - so kudos to the cooks and wait staff! The food was fresh, the drinks reasonably priced, and the service top notch. Add to that an outdoor view of Main Street. An enjoyable and affordable night out!

This is our go-to spot for Mexican cuisine in the Cedar Valley. They have consistent excellent service and food in an authentic south-of-the-border decor. The outdoor seating offers the best dining view in downtown Cedar Falls.
We went with friends and they were happy with their meal so it may have just been what we ordered. We were billed incorrectly and had to get that straightened out. Nice atmosphere inside, but not particularly impressed with the service.
Great place to eat fast fresh and filling.
If you read any of my other reviews you'll see that I don't just write complaints. But I DO give honest assessments of restaurants to help others decide if they want to try a place.
That being said, I definitely don't recommend Los Cabos. We went based on a suggestion from someone who lives in the area who said it was their favorite place for Mexican. From the moment the server brought the chips and salsa I was skeptical. The chips were definitely not fresh, just the generic bagged kind and the salsa was thin, had barely any tomato or onion, and was too spicy for my wife. The menu was pretty basic but many of the items that looked like I might want to try were priced higher than I wanted to spend. I chose the sofritos (I think that's how it was spelled) with shredded beef. The beef was basically pot roast without much seasoning. They weren't terrible, but nothing I'd choose to get again. The Mexican rice was bland. And the refried beans tasted straight out of a can and way too salty. My wife had the ground beef tacos and they were just plain ground beef without any seasoning. And her assessment of the rice and beans was the same as mine. I that, when it comes to Mexican food, I'm a bit of a purist. I've studyed and been cooking Mexican for years. Wife and I had the same thing to say about Los Cabos: the food was more focused on the basic American palate. I should have stuck with my old favorite La Placita in Waterloo. That place never disappoints
Had the fish tacos! They were so good I ordered another one for To-Go!
The BEST Mexican restaurant in the Cedar Valley!

Server was short with us while ordering, flavor of food was poor, and the price for the small portion size was absurd. Will not go here again
The food was super delicious, my husband ordered a grill with shrimp, it had a lot of oil but it was super delicious. They could use a little less oil. But everything else is fine.
