One of the great Iowa foods in a setting that feels historic without being fussy about it.

Great local spot with a long track record of unique food and atmosphere. Under same ownership for 50 years! Maid-Rite is 97 years young! Fun food and stop!

Awesome atmosphere! Very 1950! The food and staff were great. They were very friendly and full. The kids talked about it for hours.

Very retro spot. Been there since the 20's. Great loose meat sandwiches! Just like the old days.

Waited 15+ minutes for someone to take my order only to be told they were "out of Maid-Rites"! Seriously? It's a Maid-Rite shop!

Was in town for a wedding and decide to stop in to see my brother who was eating there. After a little visit and some conversation with the waitress and the owner I got interested in the menu. I saw one item offered that always hard fine tasting good. Potato Salad! They said it was homemade and really good. A relatives recipe. So I thought I would give it a whirl.Shazam!!!! So good I ate every piece of it!! After being hooked and not having an appetite I ordered a Maid-Rite. Delicious. Before I ate all the potato salad I mixed some of the maid rite meat with it. Oh! soooooo goood!Friendly waitress and owner who has a ketchup trick to show you.Highly recommended this place.Tell them you saw this review by Jorge from DBQ, IA.

TripAdvisor led me to Maid Rite! I was looking for a local breakfast and this was a great local experience. Small with counter seating only, and a minimal menu. But that’s ok because it was a great breakfast. The eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked, better than any other restaurant I have visited. Friendly locals. In fact, the server right away said that he doesn’t work there; his wife was sick and he came in to cover for her. Only in a quaint small town would you find that loyalty and support. Because I was there at breakfast, I missed out on their specialty, the loose meat sandwich. It was available, but I stuck with a traditional breakfast that did not disappoint.

Very fun stop. My husband hadn't had a made-rite since he was a kid and it lived up to his memory!
