A hidden gem of Indian food in Iowa. Excellent food, friendly service, approachable staff, and a small family business gives me a dining experience I can't replicate for twice the money in big cities.

chicken pakora was a lightly breaded appetizer, very tasty! The Gyro Rice platter was a nice portion of lamb, onions, sliced green peppers, and jasmine rice and it was also very good. The ChickenKarahi was flavor explosion that totally blew me away, mixed with light jasmine rice has me so happy that we chose Mirch Masala tonight...I wish we would have tried sooner 9/10

The Manifesting Mind

New to town and love to try local, family owned restaurants. Ordered for the first time online. Arrived and no one greeted me. Ok, no problem. But then I waited at least 5min for someone to help me when they clearly saw me walk in the door to begin with and I was the ONLY customer in the whole place. Ok, no problem again. Then a lady comes to me and ask me if she can help. Yes, I advised I ordered food online. Then she wanted me to list out everything single thing I ordered, which I did. She said ok then walked away. Waited another 5min to have a gentleman bring out a bag of food and asked me to confirm my phone number and ordered items which I did and he said “no, wrong number”and said “hold on” and then left. More time passes and the woman comes back and asks me to confirm my phone number too. I do, then she begins to read off my entire order again and we agree that is my order. Then, “ok here is your food”. I told her that now I want to confirm everything I ordered is in there (since this had to be confirmed by 2 people to just give me my order which could have been avoided had she just asked to see my order confirmation which I had up ready on my phone) and she said “no, I already confirmed….everything is in there”. I proceeded to check anyway and yes, in fact everything was in there but this whole experience was awkward and kinda weird. Ok, no problem….as long as the food was good.

It wasn’t. I have eaten at TONS of Indian and Pakistani restaurants in many different cities and this was average at best. I even worked at an Indian restaurant for years in Scottsdale, AZ and know about the culture and how a good family owned restaurant is run.

This place was not friendly, warm or inviting. Food was luke warm, sauce was super runny (too much water?) and bread was chewy by the time I ate it, which was immediately after I left. Underwhelming and over priced with a weird interaction with who I presume are the owners (I wouldn’t know as they never greeted me or introduced themselves). Will NOT be back nor would I recommend this place to anyone. I will continue to try other places in town.

We ordered Chicken biryani, Kadhai gost, butter chicken, garlic naan and tandoori roti for take away. The staff was courteous and order was ready. The chicken biryani and butter chicken was not at all good. Kadhai goat was ok. Not authentic.

Raves from a chef! We are ecstatic to have found this hidden gem just a few minutes away. The food is excellent and the naan is the best I’ve ever had. Prices were incredibly reasonable. We will be going back to try everything on the menu. I’m stuffed but already considering which dishes I will order next!

Most of my experience with Indian/Pakistani food is in Chicago and London. The food here would not be out of place in those cities. This is a bare bones place: Formica tables and paper napkins. No decor to speak of. But really good food. We shared lamb masala, chicken jalfrezi, daal, and naan. It came with unlimited basmati rice. The lamb and chicken were excellent and the daal very good. Note that this family-run place serves no alcohol.

Happened to spot a review for this and was looking for something not boring. Had just a great experience here. The service was prompt and professional, the atmosphere relaxed and all of the patrons seemed happy. Once the food arrived, we discovered why. Ordered what we thought was too much for 3 people, and even though all the portions were quite generous, it was just too good to leave anything. We had Chicken Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken kabobs, and an order of Garlic Naan and Onion Naan. The Tandoori was moist (a rarity) and the Garlic Naan was one of the best I've had. Topped it off with some Chai Tea and a decent amount of water (we like it spicy). Left happy and smiling!

I ordered takeout when in town for a seminar. I had butter chicken, which came with rice, and I also ordered naan. All the food was good, especially because I asked for it to be spicy. I would visit again.
